I have no problems submitting the activities and writing section (specifically the 150 words short essay about an activity) on the Common App online. However, when I click on Preview and print everything out, for some of my longer descriptions for some activities, the words get cut off at the end.

Would this be a problem? The Common App online stops you from typing into the text box after a set amount of characters, but even with the limit in place the words still get cut off.

Will colleges see everything even if gets cut off in the preview?

Yes, this is a problem. As sherpa has said, colleges will only see what you see in the preview. Have you eliminated pronouns, articles, and other extraneous words from your activity descriptions? I often see students write something like, “I was chosen by my teachers to be the head of the judicial board at my school.”

Instead, go with: Chosen by teachers to head judicial board.

The “Chosen by teachers” part is important, if you can fit it in, since it shows that the faculty members respect you highly. But admission folks will know that it’s at your school and not the Supreme Court. ;)
