Working out

How available are weight rooms and training equipment at unc? Is the gym(s) open late? Are there multiple facilities? How would you rate the quality and range of available equipment?

theyre open from like 6/7am-midnight during the week, with varying times on the weekend.

[Carolina Campus Recreation :: Facilities :: Hours](http://campusrec.unc.edu/facilities/hours.html) :)

There are two main gyms with cardio and weights. I think the range of equipment is pretty solid, and the quality is definitely good.

There are also all sorts of classes offered for free.

Yeah we have really nice gym facilities close to both north and south campuses :)

At Rams head gym, do they lend towels? How are the basketball courts in Rams head?

The SRC is better if you’re talking free weights as I think Rams only had one squat rack last time I was there. It’s not too crowded except for around the usual rush times.

You can get towels, locks and basketballs, etc at each gym as long as you have your onecard, which they hold hostage until you return the items.

Rams Head is a sorry excuse for a gym. The SRC however is a great gym with tons of equipment. Most girls however like Rams Head because it is shiny.

Moral of the story: Start working out at the SRC, then once you’ve got your bod perfectly sculpted, move to Ram’s Head. And make sure all the girls there notice.

Not that it’s particularly hard to meet girls at UNC, seeing as the campus is 60% female…

Every sorority girl I know frequents the SRC like it’s their job. Especially upstairs SRC.

Haha, I’m a girl and I do like Rams better - chiefly because it is in fact shinier. And I think it also smells better.
