Workout

i think i saw a video of a guy benching 1000 one time. he barely did it though.

hahhahahahahaha, the little troll on youtube? hahahha

I love to work out. My school has awesome gyms -- pricey though.

One word of caution for the newbies: watch it with the bench press. This past fall semester, I've had shoulder pain on two separate occasions b/c of the bench: first time involved a grip that was too wide (grip should only be about shoulder-width for weaker shoulders)...the second time, I'm guessing the jump from the bar to 10 lbs. on each side did it. Luckily, the pain has subsided (took the winter break off...as painful as that was, had to be done), but upon returning to campus, I will do rotator cuff exercises before I ever do the bench again. Might forget the bench for a while until I feel I have the shoulder strength to handle it... dumbbell press would be used instead.

The bench press is great because it's a "compound exercise" (works the chest, triceps and shoulders)...but beware of possible shoulder trouble if your shoulders are not strong enough.

squatting is great for building muslce mass, it's a compound exercise as well.

Agreed. Squatting>Bench any day.

for some reason, i never squat, i just bench. I'll try it someday

I don't know why, but for some reason, even though I do lifting ex. w/ both arms, my left arm is a whole lot weaker than my right. It makes me wobbly when I bench. That's why I max at about 100. I should probably do some triceps w/ just left arm, right?

Try benching with db's.

I play football and coach puts us on a pretty good program.

I max out around 240-250, i haven't really maxed out.

Im usually in a program doing 5x5, or other stuff.

When my gym class did weight training, I couldn't use the 45 lb. bar, so I had to have a lighter one. It was probably about 30 lb. I could still hardly do it. So don't go complaining about your 100 lb.

Then again, I only weigh 105 lb. so I suppose I can't expect too much. I like lifting weights, but my size makes certain exercises kind of impossible.

ok lets build a masterlist of workouts like

abs : 50 crunches
biceps: 50 curls

i really need to start doing all this to get muscular

biceps: 50 curls

This probably won't help you very much...

why not? actually you may be right because i have been curling for a quite a bit of time and i dont see any improvements

Curling by itself is a good supplemental exercise for arm development but it is by no means a standalone workout. Mix it in with other upper body workouts. Focus particularly on chest, lats (latissimus dorsi) and triceps. Bench variations are good, as are rows, pulldowns, etc.

I'm not surprised that you're not seeing results. I didn't either when I did nothing but curls. In my experience, building strong triceps improves the overall look of your arms more than biceps.

BTW:

BP: probably max around 185 (I hit 5x175 and decided to start cutting; since then I haven't been able to break past 3X180 for the last 3 weeks for obvious reasons)

DL: 265 and somehow gaining steadily through my cut

Squat: 245 but I need to go back down and improve form; I'm duck footed and it's hard for me to maintain good posture.

I heard this was one of the best total body workouts...

300 Workout:

25 pull-ups
50 deadlifts at 135 pounds
50 push-ups
50 box jumps with a 24-inch box
50 "floor wipers" (135 pounds)
50 "clean and press" at 36 pounds
25 more pull-ups -- for a total of 300 reps

No rest in between exercises

The 300 workout was a test taken by all the actors in the movie after all of their extensive training. Almost anyone else would collapse before they even finished half of that list.

^ not me, i would completely own that workout :)

yeah i dont have pull-up bars at home what is a supplement to that

I am a runner. Weight lifting to me is just repetitive and boring... I'd rather go to a park and run. Which is why I have great legs and puny arms XD
