I’m a junior and my friend and I took the October 2015 SAT, and I was fully unaware of how much the SAT is important to colleges as I had not studied for the SAT at all. I had a pretty abrupt wake up call when I received my score of 1550, which is average. I’m aiming to go to USC or UCLA, which require the top percentile scores (2100+). My friend got a score around 2100, with studying her blue book and an SAT class over the summer. Considering the new SAT was implemented and the old was scratched out, I didn’t have considerable time to study for the old, so I’ve decided to take the new SAT in this coming March and in October of my senior year. However, I feel I’m at a considerable disadvantage to others who took the old SAT, like my friend. I’m planning to study a large amount to prepare for the March SAT, possibly take a class in the summer and study study study for when I take the SAT for the last time in October. Is this enough for me to possibly boost my score to the (2100+) mark?? I know it’s hard to compare scores from the old sat to the new, but I would really appreciate some feedback. Thank you.
It’s possible if you’re extremely dedicated to it. I recommend studying every day: complete at least one section of the test a day. Make it a habit.
Also, the new SAT has a total score of 1600.
