I am currently a community college student and I am just about ready to transfer. My current GPA is about a 2.4 ( and have withdrawn from 4 classes but have since replaced the W's with a passing grade) and I am worried that I will not be accepted to any Cal State campus. What are the chances of not getting accepted? And do I still have a chance to get admitted to a campus?

Ok. I was in the same situation as you this time last year. I had exactly a 2.49 and I applied to 4 CSUs. I got rejected from ALL except for 1 that came through. There is a possibility that you can bring that GPA up to at least a 2.8, still not as high BUT it might get you somewhere. Meanwhile, try not to apply to schools that aren’t in you area. It’s a lot harder to get into because of a higher GPA threshold.

I applied to schools that were beyond my reach: SDSU (automatically rejected, not sure if they even looked at my app), CSU San Marcos (rejected because of Low GPA and Golden 4 not transferring), Fresno State (rejected because of Golden 4 not transferring; GPA .2 lower than recommended GPA) (not my pick, mom picked that one), and CSU Northridge (rejected first then got accepted after they got my CSU certification and math course).

On the CSUmentor site, there’s a link somewhere that tells you which schools consider your area local admissions and which ones don’t. I’d apply to ones that consider ALL of California local admission/service areas: Cal State Northridge (currently NOT impacted for transfers and accepting Spring 2014 transfers), CSU Bakersfield, CSU Channel Islands, CSU Dominguez Hills, Humboldt State University, CSU Maritime, CSU Monterey Bay, CSU Stanislaus.

I graduated from University of Maryland University College (yes I am a California resident went to a CCC also) with a 2.71, but now my CSU GPA is 2.6. U CAN GET INTO A CSU WITH A LOW GPA. It’s not impossible!!!
