worth it?

I got a letter inviting me to join Phi Theta Kappa at SMC. It seems the benefits are: eligibility for scholarships, looks good on transfer applications, resumes and transcripts.
However, I have already applied for transfer, so the "looks good on applications" benefit doesn't help me anymore. Scholarships are interesting, but since it is my last semester at SMC I don't know if it is too late for that.

Do you think it is worth the $65 to join? Anyone else a member, are the scholarships readily available or super hard to get?

I got the same letter from my CC. I don’t really think its worth it though for the reasons you’ve already mentioned above. Besides, unless you can transfer to a chapter at the UC, what’s the point? I’ve heard the scholarship opportunities are better, but by this point I’m still leaning towards not doing it. Any other thoughts?

I know someone who paid the fee, transferred to a private university (an ivy), and received an $8,000 scholarship there.
