Worthwhile Application Update?

Would emailing colleges a notice about coming in first place in a Northeast science competition benefit my chances for admission? This is for top 20 schools.

Yes go for it! Unless, of course, decisions come out mid-March. Otherwise, I would assume they have the time to read it before a decision, and every little bit helps

It may not make a difference especially since it is already March, but it definitely won’t hurt. I’d send in a brief email or go through portals when available and: 1) reaffirm your interest in the college and 2) state the first place finish and the competition name. Keep the whole thing to no more than a paragraph – admissions officer are swamped right now.

Thanks!
