I’m passionate about programming and currently taking a second class in C++. Unfortunately although my instructor is really good, his expectations are a bit high. As a result, my grade is a borderline B. In the worst case scenario, if my grade is lowered to a C at the end of the semester, would that negatively impact my transfer opportunities and admissions to certain schools? Should I consider changing my major?
Yes, it could possibly affect your transfer applications. But that doesn’t mean you should change your major.
Good faculty members have high expectations. Go spend some time with this instructor during his office hours. Get help with whatever it is that you are confused about. Work with any tutors that the department has available for you. Pull the grade up as best you can.
After the semester ends, if you are at a community college go sit down with the Transfer Advisor and have a nice long chat about where students with grades like yours have been admitted in recent years.
