Would a mormon fit in at UCLA?

So I've read all the threads asking if ucla is a party school, and they all pretty much say that everyone eventually drinks here at some point. Since I'm Mormon, I choose to completely refrain from drinking/drugs. Will I be the only one in the whole school who doesn't drink at parties? Will this crush me socially??

To be honest, you probably won’t be invited to the really wild/crazed parties if you tell people you are Mormon.
However, you should be able to have a good social life with the Mormon/non Mormon friends you make at UCLA.

You don’t have to drink to have a good time. Approach it with an outgoing state of mind and you’ll still have a blast

You don’t have to go to “parties” to have a social life.

I’m not sure what services they have around here, but the LA temple is a 10 bus ride down Westwood.

Thanks for the answers, so it’s pretty much coming down to BYU or UCLA for me. It’s obvious what the pros of going to byu are for me, however ucla would still be amazing. Do any of you current bruins know any LDS students at ucla? Do they enjoy it?

I don’t know any, unless the starting QB (who I know of) counts.

I suppose you could contact the Latter-Day Saint Student Association at UCLA and get their take… [Student Groups at UCLA](<a href=“Student Organizations | UCLA Student Organizations, Leadership & Engagement”>Student Organizations | UCLA Student Organizations, Leadership & Engagement)

google really is your friend ;)

I don’t think people here party that much. I mean I feel like the majority of students study all the time. I don’t really get why everyone thinks the social scene here is like crazy or something LOL.

It’s like any minority group at UCLA, you’ll find your niche. Not everyone’s life revolves around partying.

If you want to party, you’ll party. If you dont want to, you wont. No ones going to make you do anything you dont want to do.
