Would it be frowned upon to write about how "the computer" is where I'm most content?

I want to write about how I feel most content on in my basement on the computer and how reality sort of fades away when I am working on the computer. I want to major in interactive media/game design by the way.

In my essay I would talk about:
1. graphic design (logos, banners, posters) in Photoshop
2. my Ebay business (buying on craigslist, reselling on ebay to make double)
3. web design (html, web layouts)

I might also talk about how I got into these hobbies through playing computer games as a kid since I want to go into Game Design. I found Photoshop by making graphics for people by request on fansite forums. I started doing web design and html for my Neopets web page. And having a virtual shop made me have a passion for business and buying/reselling. But I may leave that out since it sounds a little silly to me. What do you think?

But anyways, would this topic make me seem like a lazy couch potato? I don't want it to sound like I'm a computer nerd who has no life. Thanks

It makes u sound like you’re a computer nerd who has no life.

A school might be concerned that u will not adequately engage w other students.

ok my second topic idea is about how my birthday is 9/11. do you think that would be more ideal?

I like both, but the birthday one is more memorable, imho.

I think you should go with the computer topic. Your essay will perfectly match with your intended major. Also, a lot of people’s birthday is on 9/11. you just have to include how you do have social life too.

What does having a birthday on 9/11 say about you? Does it really say anything about you that is meaningful, or is it just an (unfortunate) coincidence?

As with all good essays, an essay on a 9/11 birthday would require fresh insight, wonderful writing, and a highly personal voice. Apply same to computer essay.
