Would it be weird if...

I brought my portable record player (smaller than a suitcase) and a small vinyl collection with me to college? Both take up barely any room and i would love to bring them because i collect vinyl and love listening to them.

I know this is a stupid thread but....i was just curious lol

Weird, sure. Problematic? No. If you like it, bring it. But do keep in mind you may be stuck with a moronic oaf of a roommate that’ll inadvertently break your stuff.

that’s not weird at all…i would have brought my records if i’d had room…

thanks guys

I think it is weird. Not trying to be offensive, just honest. It wouldn’t bother me and I’m sure I would get used to it, but it would be weird at first.

Bring it. Having something interesting in your dorm room is a HUGE plus for a lot of reasons.

i think it’s cool

I’d think it was pretty cool actually…

It’s unique, not weird.

That sounds perfectly normal to me. o_O

Actually, I’d find it weird if someone who owned something as neat as that didn’t do that, lol.

not weird, totally awesome

haha, back in the dinosaur ages, each dorm room had a stereo system with massive receiver, turntable, and usually huge speakers!!! Go ahead and take your player…most will probably think it’s cool. (and you can bring back that old college pick-up line…want to go back to my dorm and see my record collection!!!)

I think that’s awesome! I know my friends and I would be totally impressed by that and it would be a cool thing to have aside from just MP3s.

Oh, and congrats on the instant ticket to your room if you meet a girl into the same sort of music as you.

That’s a golden idea, actually. Not weird at all.

It’s not a bad idea, but my records are staying at home. I’d never be able to pick just a few, and bringing all of them isn’t even a joke of an option :stuck_out_tongue: I’m also a bit of a freak with them, and wouldn’t want to risk any unnecessary damage/maltreatment.

My S has one and a few records at his dorm.

That is not weird in my book! I appreciate someone who likes the unparalleled sound of good vinyl.

I would totally hang out with someone like you. It’s difficult to find audiophiles, and people who use records for things other than scratching them.

Be careful with you stuff, though!

I don’t necessarily find it weird that you want to bring your records, but i wonder why don’t you just digitize them it would be so much easier. I’m not too familiar with records, but i’m sure playing an mp3 collection of a record would be the same as playing it on an old-fashion, out-dated player. Maybe i’m just too reliant on new technology.

It’s weird but I wouldn’t really care
