He is a junior and wants to major in econ. or business. I don't think he has the grades for the higher UC's.

Without knowing what his grades are or his test scores, how can we say?

Why don’t you find out the following

Weighted GPA and UC GPA

SAT/ACT

PSAT

how much can his family pay for his education?

Depends on your cousin…

If he wants to save money, is unsure about major, desires to go to a higher UC, the community college route is great for a focused and disciplined student.

If not, he should choose the college that will provide the environment he likes better at a reasonable cost. I believe SJSU has an undergrad business program, UCSC does not. However, you may want him to ask current SJSU students about the business program…the major is typically super popular and it can be a challenge/hassle to get classes.

My cousin actually wants to major in accounting. So which would be better, UC Riverside, Santa Clara University, San Jose State, or community college? Cost is not really a factor.
