Would my TAG be safe for UCR?

I am looking to TAG Winter 2020 at UCR with the major of Computer Science with Business Applications. So their requirement is to have a 2.5 GPA for the calculus series (Calc 1 and Calc 2). I got a C with Calc 1, took Calc 2 and got a D, BUT I re-took it again right away and got a B. So the B override the D grade in my transcript, however that D grade is still visible. Therefore, that C and B fulfill the requirement of being 2.5 GPA combined. BUT, I’m scared about that D grade, will the admissions officers take it into consideration, or is it fine since the D grade does not count towards my GPA since it got replaced by the B grade?

If your grade was replaced, then it will not matter. You have nothing to worry about.

OMG thank youu! Yes it is replaced GPA-wise and even says in the transcript that the D grade is EXCLUDED from the GPA, BUUUUT obviously it still shows on the transcript nonetheless, so it’s all fine right? I hope that they do not just see the D grade and like ignore the B grade I literally got the semester after LOL. Do I need to explain this when applying? Any tips on anything convincing I should mention?

The reason why I got a D in the first place was because I was confident I would get a B but the final screwed me and ALSO my whole class over since the class average for the final was said to be 49% which was absolutely shocking!!

Yes, it is fine. They will see it, but they will not count it against you for TAG. If you’re interest in applying for other schools, it’ll be best if you provide an explanation under the “Additional Comments” portion of the application. Other than that, you’re good to go. Good luck!

I also have 4 W’s, 2 from classes that were not major-related whatsoever, and 2 classes that were major related but I re-took them immediately the semester after, will this lower my chances for TAG?
