Would one semester at a community college (non degree seeking) make me a transfer student?

Okay, this question may be silly to you, but answer it anyway, please.

I graduated from high school in June this year but was too late to apply to universities for Fall 2015. So I applied for Spring 2016 and got accepted. I’ve decided now that I wanna attend in Fall 2016 (my acceptance is valid for Fall too), so I have a gap of six months from January. I wanted to use it to take courses at a community college (to prepare for my major) and get used to the system of education here in the US, being an international student.

So if I take non degree courses, or as it says on community colleges’ websites, ‘for personal satisfaction’, would I still be able to attend as a freshman at a university? I don’t want to become a transfer student, so I just wanna make sure I don’t become one if I enroll at a community college for a semester.

It depends on the college. For some colleges, any CCC courses after HS graduation will make you a transfer student and for some it will not. Need to check each schools requirements.

@Gumbymom - Could you name any community college for me where doing one semester is possible while still staying a freshman for my university? It’d help me get an idea.

Gumbymom said that you have to check your university’s requirements, not the community college’s. Go ask admissions or look on their website.
