Would taking classes at a Community College help my GPA?

Hey guys,
So I wanted to take AP Psychology and AP Art History this year, but could not due to the classes being full. I was wondering if I took the equivalent classes at the local community college, would the colleges factor them into my GPA as a 5.0 or a 4.0?

Specifically for UCs, and other private colleges, too. Thanks.

BTW, I’m confused because my counselor said they usually count as a 4.0, but when i showed her the last comment on this (http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/q-and-a/calculating-gpa/) link, she said some colleges may calculate it differently, so idk if I should trust her.

It varies college to college. However, it does not matter for admissions purposes if the colleges factor them into your GPA. If the community college courses are at an equivalent or higher level than the corresponding AP courses, then they will be treated as such when reviewing your application.

High schools may choose to weight community college courses or not. (My own high school does not, for example.)

The grades come in a separate transcript, because my school does not add it to the school GPA

i tried to go talk to my counselor but she was busy today :frowning:

Send an Email?

Will do, but I was just wondering in general, or for anyone who has had experience in this area.

My D takes classes at cc every summer and her HS weights it as AP classes. But it is not out of 5. The weight for AP classes at her school is .025
