Would Yearbook or Spanish 3 look better?

So I wanted to take both classes but unfortunately I can't. Both classes are during 5th period only, so obviously I can't take both. I'm so frustrated with my school right now. Uuughh. Here are the classes I will be taking my senior year:
Anatomy&Physiology
Honors English
Trig/ICM
Civics
Spanish 3 or Yearbook
& I might even have Psychology.

My problem is that I won't have any other extra curricular classes if I take Spanish 3. I will be volunteering during the school year though. & I took Yearbook last year (junior year) if that helps? I will be applying to UCs and a couple of private schools.

So am I better off with Yearbook or Spanish 3? I plan to major in nursing. Thank you!*

Spanish will definitely look better… Yearbook is considered a blow off class… And since it’s during school hours I don’t think yearbook can be considered a extra curricular

The UCs explicitly recommend three years of coursework in a foreign language, so Spanish 3 will definitely look better. (It has to be a single foreign language, so this doesn’t change if you’re one of those people who switched from French.)

Spanish will also help you in a healthcare career. Also, if you can test out of any foreign language requirement that can free up credits elsewhere.

The UCs’ minimum is level 2 of a foreign language, but level 3 is strongly recommended. Completing level 3 in high school may allow you to fulfill college graduation requirements in foreign language with fewer courses, since you would be able to start at a more advanced level. Knowledge of common foreign languages will be helpful as a nurse anyway.

Most of your nursing major options in California public schools are at CSUs:

Nursing B.S. (CSUB, CSUC, CSUDH, CSUEB, CSUFRES, CSUFULL, CSULA, CSULB, CSUN, CSUS, CSUSB, CSUSM, CSUSTAN, SDSU, SFSU, SJSU, SSU)
Nursing B.S. (ADN to BSN Fast Track Track II) (CSUCI)
Nursing B.S. (BSN Program at Cottage Health System Track I) (CSUCI)
Nursing B.S. (General (Basic) Track I) (CSUCI)
Nursing B.S. (RN to BSN Track II) (CSUCI)
Nursing Registered Nurse B.S. (CSULB)
Nursing Science B.S. (UCI)

If you really love Yearbook and/or you have an important leadership position in it, then I would stay in yearbook :). Otherwise, I say you take spanish 3.

There are a bunch of colleges that want three years of a single language…check your list before you decide on this…

Thank you so much for all of the advice!

How is yearbook considered an extracurricular activity if it’s a class? Spanish 3 looks better and will help you in the long run, since most schools have a language requirement you have to fulfill and you have to take more classes to get to that level if you didn’t take those classes in high school.

That’s what I said about yearbook… Ask the teacher if u can help with it after school or something…

@dannymanny: That’s actually a good idea! Thank you! I will try to talk to the teacher.

Have you thought about trying to take Spanish 3 online? then you could do Yearbook and still take Spanish.
