Would you accompany your child to college

bethievt -- those threads are about the companies that market specifically to college students. My son went the regular storage-locker people in the local community - the same ones that rent to business people and families. Those people have all sorts of security and you get a specific locker assigned and you know where the stuff is. Around here the rates for that stuff start at around $50/month for a small closet-sized room.

2V -- kids who don't have parents to drive them to school don't acquire tv's, microwaves, & fridges in advance. That stuff can all be purchased -- if needed--when they get there. I was just commenting on the seeming incongruity on spending a lot of money on stuff and then on the cost of transporting the stuff, and then worrying about the cost of storage.

I almost want to buy stuff there, like extra storage stuff for the room, and then donate to a charity each year...by the time we ship anything back and forth, or store, the costs would seem to either balance out at best or we would spend more....as for fridges and stuff, we plan on renting if roomie doesn't have those....

Thanks for clarification. We might want to do something like that in future. I didn't know that any regular storage places would do pick-up and delivery.
