Last winter I went through an application process to be selected to serve on one of my county's board committees along side other elected adult officials. Every year only 14 students are selected to serve on the different committees and you are chosen after being nominated, filling out and application, writing essays, and having an interview. I believe almost 300 people were nominated this year and about 100 went through the application process, so it's an honor to be selected. But I'm not sure how to put this on a college application. When I applied to my local safety school I just listed "Students of ****** Government" as an activity. But could it be considered to be an internship? Because the whole point is for students be able to learn about how our local government works. Also should I try to work an explanation of it into my essays or something? Because obviously no college from out of state is going to know what it is, but it really is a huge deal in my city to be selected.

Also if it makes a difference, all I really do is go to a one hour meeting once a month....
