i say your chances are very good...

You sound WAY in.

ah nice to hear that :)

Ah Ajay, you and your infatuation with chance threads...;)

Not really but I have no idea about Brandeis so I thought of asking my chances before I apply. Cant apply to many colleges you see :)

Nothing below a 90 will be considered an "A" by any university or college, u have things that are mid and low 80s classified as "A"s

and the other question, you say your class rank is 1, no offense but with stats like yours how competitive could your class really be if your the val with low "B"s im my highschool class, anything below an A would disqualify you from the top 10. I only ask because the admissions counsilers will look into the quality of your highschool, for example they wouldn't view an A from the hamptons in the same way as an A from compton. im not saying your school is either but the admissions people will look.

even with all A and B grades though, you still look like your chances for brandeis are very good

Anything above 70 would be an A for a student in an Indian high school. Its the official grading system demarcated by the Ministry of Education. And the Indian schooling is tougher as compared to the american counterpart.

As far as I know the colleges would evaluate an applicant in context to his respective educational system.

Thanks for your feedback. :)

Cheers!

^ Yeah you're right, the admissions officers will look at your grades based on the context of your school/location..my parents always tell me about how much harder school was in India lol

I scored a 1950 on my SAT :( There goes my chances...

Your chances are still good, ajay. Don't let the test score discourage you from applying.

Good luck.

Did you do well on on your math section at least? I think since you live in India, they will give you a break on the CR and Wr.

680 on the math.I think I will score above 750 on my Math IIC and Physics.

apply EDII

^ I am applying ED II :)

jeez I got 620 on math IIC and 690 on phy. How badly will this hurt?

Thats not too bad..I got a 690 on phys but got in. Good luck!

Ajay, you have very good grades for a student in India. My father went to school in India, and he had like all low 80s and high 70s, and he got into Imperial College in England with a full scholarship. I thought that was impressive, but you've done even better than him. Are you also applying to schools in England? I've heard that people in India have very good chances in getting into British schools as well, maybe even better chances than us Americans--perhaps they like the extreme rigor of the Indian system that develops a better work ethic.

Anyway, I hope both you and I can get into Dartmouth first, 'cause I think we can be good friends.

Thank you for your response sat123! Hopefully we should meet at Dartmouth next year but hey I would equally love to attend Brandeis! :)

Ah, you two are rather similar, aren't you? :)
