I just got off the phone with an Emory admissions officer who said that Emory scholarships are actually used to meet FAMILY NEED. So, what in the heck is the point in scholarships that are not full tuition/full rides for people whose EFC is around 30K?

^So you prefer that they give no scholarships at all?

The glass isn’t always half empty.

It means that you pay 10,000 - 15,000 dollars less than you would have without the scholarship. I’m not sure I understand your question.

I’m saying that if I do get a liberal arts scholarship for like 10K, in reality I am getting no money at all because Emory would already be paying me 20K in grants for family need. The scholarship money would simply be used by Emory to meet my 20k need.
