I’ve been doing a specific sport my entire life. It’s a pretty rare sport that not many people do, but people keep telling me not to write about my sport because it’s not unique. Honestly, I feel like I became who I am because of this sport. I can’t think of anything else in my life that is a part of who I am as much as this sport, that would convey my personality and how I became who I am, besides this sport.
My essay isn’t about a specific moment. It’s sort of just about what the sport taught me. It’s an individual sport, but it actually requires a lot of teamwork and it taught me about how vital it is to cooperate with and be empathetic towards others, to care for others and how important it is to support each other. It taught me to be resourceful and to turn mistakes into positives, etc. So I just sort of talked about the sport and how it shaped me into who I am. I have a few fun anecdotes thrown in there, they aren’t particularly heavy/amazing things (and none of them are about me winning medals or that sort of thing) but they do reveal things about me as a person.
I honestly can’t think of anything else to write my essay on that I feel as passionate and inspired about. I can easily find other subjects, but it will all fall flat compare to if I wrote about this sport, because…this sport inspires me and I’ve devoted pretty much half of my life to it. I just feel like my application would be incomplete if I didn’t write more about this sport. But I hear writing about sports is a bad idea…
