I took my first Act w/ writing this summer and my writing score was dismal. I’m taking it again in about 3 weeks and have no desire to take the writing portion so I was asking around as to whether it’s needed or not but I’m getting mixed answers.
Some people say don’t take it, that college won’t ask for it but I’m also getting answers like do it they might need it.
If I need it,I’ll take it but if I don’t decide to take it, will they send my dismal writing score to colleges since I wouldn’t be taking one on my second test or does it not carry over like that?
Second question: Should I take it or not?
Depends upon the colleges you are applying. Some required ACT with writing and some do not.
Really need to look at your target list of schools and see what their policies are re ACT Writing. Not much to lose by taking it to improve your score.
Whether your first score gets submitted depends on the college’s policy regarding test submission. If they make you submit all your scores, they’ll see it. If not, you can choose which test to send.
If you know which colleges you’re going to apply to, check their policies. If not, I would recommend taking it to keep your options open. Three weeks should be enough time to read some sample essays and practice. Good luck!
Just take it with writing in case schools you add to your list require it
