For colleges that disregard the writing section, do they still count it as an SATII then? I am hoping that my 770W isnt completely useless.

Also, would there be any advantage in taking another SATII if I have 3 SATII's above 750 already. I sometimes see people with 4 or even 5 SATII's. Would there be any advantage to taking say a physics and getting another 750+ in october, or should i just focus on my essay?

No, they don't count SAT I Writing as an SAT II. They'll still see your score, of course, and if it's high it'll impress them, but they maybe don't officially use it for admissions purposes.

And if you take any number of SAT IIs, it will show colleges how much you have mastered those subjects. It's a standardized test, so adcoms will see that you didn't get an A in the class just because the teacher didn't teach you anything and the work was super-easy; they can instead measure your mastery of the subject with the same yardstick by which everyone else is measured. So if you can score high on a subject test, take it and show colleges that you've really learned the material and are good at the subject. It will count for something, I'm sure.

On the other hand, having a good essay is a very important thing, too.

So... do whatever.

some schools only count and look at the first 2 or 3 scores, so it's not necessary to have so many... stick with the 3 unless certain schools require tests that you haven't taken.

penn, for instance, will only look at your top 2.

however, mit wants one math and one science.

so if you got a 770 on like Lit because you wanted to send it to penn, mit wouldn't care much about it.

They don't count it as an SATII, but your 770 will definitely be a plus. Some schools also use your SAT Writing for first-year English placement purposes.

Focus on your essay.

Some schools do count it as an SAT II. It doesn't make much sense to me, but there are schools that have told me they do.
