Well I haven't received my finaid package from Stanford yet, and I wanted to write them a quick letter about my circumstances. We already sent one, signed by my parents, earlier this spring. I was wondering if it would be too much if I wrote them an e-mail or a letter, signed by me (the student)?

My first reaction--and this is just gut, it's not necessarily informed is this: I don't know why it would help--unless you're adding new information, or unless you can add credibility to your parents' letter.

Jamimom suggested (on another thread) that my daughter contact the finaid office directly (via email) to request they review her file. She received an almost immediate response (on Friday) with a promise to look over her file on Monday. She received her finaid offer on Monday afternoon. By all means, send your letter -- or email. (I'm impatient, so I'd do the latter.) You don't have anything to lose.... Good luck!
