W's

I'm currently taking 16 units at a CCC, in the TAP for UCLA, and a biochem major. I have several W's (6) on my transcript but I have retaken 4 of the classes with all A's and plan on retaking the other 2 classes in the spring. If W's are "made up" (as in got a W in a class but retook it), does that in a way "void" the previous W? Does this look better on a transcript than if I hadn't retaken them? Or are the W's invisible/overlooked anyways?

Also, I'm currently talking OChemII but I really don't want a B/C in the class and as of now, an A seems unattainable. Is it better to drop and retake it in the winter (when I am absolutely certain I can get an A!!) or tough it out and settle? Will receiving a W during the semester I'm applying for transfer significantly effect my chances? I really miss sleep.

I hate W's.

Oh but btw, is biochem at UCLA considered an extremely competitive major for transfer students? and is it true that there are many more men than women in biochem? I know someone who got into biochem@UCLA with a 3.2, TAP certified, but I'm not sure if UCLA admissions is raising the bar this year because of the current economic crisis. I'm going to be TAP certified but I don't know how much that helps with admission.

W's do not matter when transferring to the UCs.

I had 19, 7 which i did not make up. I went to UCLA.

Truly irrelevant.

W is better than C for your GPA.

Grad schools and Ws are another issue though
