@happyalldatime it’s the adjusted gross income.
Less than two days until results…I’m so excited and nervous at the same time…I just want to know even though it will probably be rejection
Same @fantasyreader.
@artsciencefood @tonystarkofwinterfell I just saw your comments and I wanted to say thanks for reading my blog! Best of luck with the admissions!
@abbiejlee Your blog got me really excited about WTP! Does WTP have good alumni community?
For everyone who is pessimistic about their chances of getting in on the basis that you “don’t have enough experience” or haven’t done too many STEM ECs:
I waitlisted for WTP-ME (more waiting! I thought I was going to die!), then accepted. I too thought that I wasn’t nearly competitive enough to get into a program like WTP, given that at the time I had only completed pre-calculus and regular chemistry and physics. I go to a small Christian high school with very few opportunities to really explore STEM. They’re not looking for a genius (though you will meet more than a fair share of brilliant minds at the program). Because the program is so selective, they’re looking to put together a group of girls that will work well together and they’re looking for a genuine curiosity in exploring ME and EECS.
If you are accepted and are unsure about attending, GO. I honestly would not have realized how much I enjoy engineering (or MIT) had I not attended the program. It was super intimidating for me at first, seeing how much background knowledge some of my peers had coming into WTP, but your tutors, instructors, and yes, your peers, are all so willing to explain hard concepts and help with the PSets (which you never have to do alone. ever. seriously, do not do the psets alone). Had I not attended WTP, I would not have even applied to MIT (which would have been a HUGE mistake). You’ll work hard, for sure, but the friendships that you’ll make are worth every moment of struggling through kitchen sink problems (once you get there, you’ll know what I mean. They’re rough).
Best of luck to all of you! And remember that your worth is not defined by an acceptance or denial. Continue to explore your passions, whether you end up going to WTP or not. Feel free to shoot me a comment on my blog if you have questions

@happyalldatime Yes! So our RA was a rising sophomore at MIT who had attended WTP-ME as a high school student. Most of our tutors and instructors had also been through WTP (our fluids instructor actually was a part of the first WTP back in 2006). To this day, I keep in contact with my tutors and RA (who actually hosted my friend and me during campus preview weekend a couple weeks ago).
I wonder why they take almost 4 months to make a decision. It’s one of the earliest deadlines and one of the latest to give out results !
The good thing about results coming this late is that if we get rejected, we won’t be sad for long because of studying for AP exams. But I want to get in soooo badly…
ahh 1 more day… good luck everyone! : ))
Ahh I now have a backup if I don’t get into WTP!!! I emailed a professor at a local university and he just replied to me, so I get to do research there if I don’t get in (or even if I do get in, I might decide to stay local this summer). I’m so, so happy right now.
For those of you who don’t get in tomorrow, it’s not too late! I emailed the professor this weekend.
@tonystarkofwinterfell congrats! what type of research are you doing?
@lshaynal geophysics/seismology (my love)! I get to do some fieldwork, too (actually, it’ll probably be the majority of my work; I won’t spend much time inside the actual lab), which is pretty awesome.
I can’t stop grinning/being happy right now and I need to study for finals tomorrow and this is not working.
I had resigned myself to the fact that I’d have to take community college classes over the summer if I were to get rejected from WTP, but now I have a legitimate backup!
@tonystarkofwinterfell That sounds amazing, congratulations!
I’m going to be refreshing my email every 5 minutes until 5pm today XD I couldn’t sleep this morning because I was so anxious.
they just sent out decisions!!
Rejected :((
Accepted!
Rejected
Accepted to ME!!! Probably going–can’t wait to see all you girls this summer.
Rejected. What were some of the stats/hooks for those that got accepted?
