hmm if we have weekends off i might still consider the leaving on sundays for soccer games thing i talked about but at the moment theres no coach for that team...

Yea eightmagnets, no one really likes running its kinda a self discipline sort of thing i guess. i had a track meet today and, well, running is never fun. but we should make wtp soccer teams and play each other! there are 60 of us so there must be enough soccer players to make some teams, or non-soccer players who just wanna have fun. now that would be a good kind of running, eightmagnets. mer.

but kristen, my team will be doing conditioning four mornings a week while im gone including running (like sprint/agility workouts) and lifting, so thats why the weights plus theyll be playing in a summer league 2 days a week. and ill miss it all. talk about a bad captain huh?

in history now we're doing documentaries about WW2 casualties from our town, so we have to contact their relatives or people who knew them to film an interview. and anyone who knew them is now at least 84 years old so thatll be great, but no more DBQs or weekly quizzes so i can handle it. for AP stat their are only 4 juniors in my class and the seniors leave next week so we wont be doing much there =D

Mango- I've worked at a camp the last four summers...haha, I see actually being the "camper" or in this case the student as a kind of break :-P

CMD- Yeah, my soccer team doesn't really do too much collectively over the summer (last summer I basically ran 5 out of the 7 days, about 3-4 miles a day). I go to a boarding school, so we're all spread across the country, and I guess the world for the international kids, anyhow. I'd love to play pick-up soccer though, that would be fun :-) I'll need to make sure I bring a soccer ball. Though I must admit that I would prefer to play pick-up basketball, but I don't know how that would work if we dont have access to athletic facilities...soccer would be easier to throw together games because we could make our own goals.

I'm so happy...tomorrow I only have two classes because my AP classes were both canceled, so I'm basically done at 9:30 in the morning and then its the weekend :-)

Hmm....good point about soccer balls. We need to come up with stuff to bring to WTP (to do in free time). Soccer'd be fun. And frisbee. Do we get to use the tennis courts or are those off-limits too? (I think it said in the packet we got, but I don't remember if exercise facilities included the tennis courts. I guess they probably do).

lol....now that APs are over, I have the time to think about summer and I'm reeaallly getting excited.

You can use the tennis courts! :) They're never closed, and they don't check IDs or anything.

If you don't have access to the actual athletic center, you'll still be able to use the tennis courts, the track, and Briggs Field. The field actually has several soccer goals, and you can drag them around wherever you'd like to use them.

Thanks for the info, Mollie! Yeah, I just found that also (on the WTP Students page):
"WTP students can still be physically active: they run in groups along the river path, or play tennis, Frisbee, or soccer in areas on campus not run by MIT Athletics."

Yay! And yeah, eightmagnets, walking around Boston is something we definitely should do. I've never actually had a chance to see the city and really, really want to.

Boston is a great city for walking around. I'm so happy we'll be in the city for the 4th of July too, I was in Boston last year for the fireworks, and they're really good and we'll basically have front row seats :-)

I've never played tennis before, but maybe I'll give it a try...I've got a racket.

This is gonnna be so fun! lol I play ultimate frisbee sometimes with the guys, its pretty fun but i can't throw it at all. Using the soccer fields will be sick :P and ill try tennis, or anything else we can come up with. are we allowed to go sailing on the charles? cuz theres that place right by the hatchshell do they rent sailboats or something? That kinda sucks because we're right across from the athletic facilities and they have a pool, weight rooms, skating rinks (if i remember correctly from the tour). but the food place there has really good coffee.

kristen- are you from MA? i always watch pops on 4th of july on tv but ive never been in boston for it. so if you go to a boarding school you must be used to not living at home. the longest ive been away was a week at girl scout camp at the cape(when i was 10) and 2 weeks in europe last year. but this is gonna kinda be like a girl scout camp... except with computers... and in the city... and in dorms instead of tents. and no girl scout camp songs :( well, actually, we could have girl scout camp songs. i remember them. all. and im not afraid to sing them. i think im going crazy. ive been boxed up in my house all weekend doing a stat project about allergies. ugh. the only time i got out was to go to the nursing home to visit my grandmother for mothers day. ok just kidding i went to the movies last night to see poseidon but that was a horrible movie. and my soccer game got canceled because its been raining for 12 days. not exaggerating. 12 days of monsoons. and its not stopping.

i think im abusing this site and using it to ramble. sorry. hope no one reads all that.

Yeah, I live in MA :-) And the rain is still coming down out here. I'm not complaining though, because softball is being cancelled

I go to boarding school, but I'm a day student, so this summer will be the longest I've been away from home consecutively (I've had summers were I've gone to camps in a row, were Im home for a day, then off again). So this will be a fun experience hopefully :-)

I'm Emily, though actually I haven't posted recently...but anyway, I was wondering you guys, what are your actual names, just so we can vaguely sort of recognize each other once we get there?? I'm sure we'll have to like, stand up and say our names and stuff on the first day, so it'd be kinda cool to be like, "oh yeah!! I posted with her on collegeconfidential!" so I'm just curious.

Wow I haven't posted on here in forever (so amazingly busy). Anyway, I LOVE the idea of bringing frisbees. Ultimate is one of the best games in the world :) Soccer is fun too, though I'm really really bad at it. I like tennis, but I don't have my own racket. Would we be able to rent some there or something like that??

Boston fireworks? That sounds soooo great. I usually see the ones in DC since I live about 15 minutes away, but seeing them in Boston sounds like even more fun.

Oh yeah, my real name is Andrea. That too :p

Reluctant to post my name online where I'll never have a chance to delete it if I ever need to. Control issue? Paranoia? No matter...I shall set forth to PM all five of you!

Speaking of frisbees...I had this AWESOME/ADORABLE (I actually thought it was useless at the time) fold-up frisbee that you could fold up and store in a little packet the size of your palm! I think I either threw it away or gave it away though...sad. Oh well, it wasn't strong enough to throw across a field anyways...

Hola all! I decided to change my username because frankly, this one's incredibly stupid/weird....you'll find out why when you read the PM I'm going to send you (under my new username) because I shall follow eightmagnet's example and not post my name here.

It'd be awesome if there was a DVD player. I hope someone has Season 1 for Grey's Anatomy. Or Family Guy...or Friends. Lol. Yeah, going to be in Boston for four weeks and looking forward to re-watching tv shows....

You guys will be living in McCormick right? Do you know where in McC you'll be living? In west tower, there is a tv (and often vcr/dvd) on each floor. In east tower, there is a tv, vcr, and dvd player in the penthouse. There's also a tv and vcr/dvd player that can be checked out from the front desk.

Lol Kristen I meant me when I wrote about being all into watching TV and all. My writing's confusing...Sometimes I don't mention the subject of a sentence when writing casually ...bad habit I picked from from Bridget Jones.

Anyway, while I was typing up my post I got all excited about having things like...a Grey's Anatomy marathon, then I noticed my lack of prioritizing.

And yes. VERY OBSESSED. When the season ended I was thinking "Wow, glad I'm going away for a month this summer...how else am I going to get through four straight months of Grey's Anatomy-less Sunday nights?"

Speaking of which, I heard that the time slot for next season is Thursdays at 9pm. Don't know what to think about that yet.
