WTP Summer Program

20 days....... :-/

Nineteen...

btw as i recall i don't think we were allowed to have air conditioners...circut fuse stuff...

get a huge blasting fan though I don't know if it'll help that much
last year my roommate and I left our two fans running the whole day during classes and when we got back it was still alsdflkasjdv hot

well, hopefully we wont be spending too much time in our rooms...so air conditioning shouldnt matter :-) but I'm definately bringing a fan

18

That's so soon! This thread was started Feb. 12th, which was about 90 days ago. Times flies.

Yeah, no kidding. I like how there's this huge gap in posting between the end of February and the beginning of April when nothing happened in terms of WTP acceptance. 2 days of school left! :)

2 days left for me now. I have SO MUCH summer work. Voy a morir!
lets see, about that countdown, I kind of lost count... todays the 9th so does that make it 14 days? exactly 2 weeks, well i mean until the day before because the 24th is 0 days left... aw man.

ah I'm a few days into summer over here.

I went to visit Dartmouth today...it was kinda in the middle of nowhere, but we had a nice tour of the campus and of the engineering school (which is tiny). I think I'm visiting Brown and the University of Rochester soon. Where are you guys (well, girls) looking at? Is MIT on your list? Is MIT your first choice?

Sigh college. I don't know if I want to go to MIT...I'm waiting for this program to make me "fall in love" with the place. It just seems like it's a really technical school and I think I might want a more "well-rounded" education (although English class irks me to no end).

But yeah, so far some other schools are Michigan, Duke, Northwestern, UNC...will definitely explore alot this summer. Maybe I'll reach higher.

How about everyone else?

Argh, still 1 week 2 days more of school for me. Junior year has a death grip on my throat and isn't letting go until the very last...

Yeah...college. I'm not sure if MIT is on the top of my list either, because of the same reasons. It just seems ALL math, science, and engineering and I really like to get involved in other things besides that. However, my school is a science and tech magnet school and it still has a great drama department, music department, sports, and even humanities. I guess it's since the people are so...unique :p. So I'm waiting to make judgements until this summer.

Other schools I'm looking at are Duke, Northwestern (yeah eightmagnets :D), Carnegie Mellon, UVA, maybe Brown, maybe Harvard (since they keep sending mail saying they're expanding their engineering department), and Rensselaer.

I have the same feelings about MIT, that it may be too concentrated in some areas and lacking in others*. Also don't have the SAT scores for MIT. I'm planning on applying to Harvard(its harvard), Brown(fell in love with the campus & curriculum plus boyfriend there=extra bonus), UPenn(nice campus, good engineering), Cornell(haven't seen it), Tufts(havent seen it but I can't just do ivies), carnegie mellon (good engineering?), idk. But I'll probably end up at BU. Not my first choice, or second, or third but not a bad school.

*MIT does have division 3 soccer, and since claire will never play div1 like all the other schools, if MIT will let her play then the overall appeal is dramatically improved.

13 days. actually is it 12? because don't we come on the 24th?

I'm excited!

I'm excited too! It's so hard to study for finals when I keep thinking "this time two weeks from now I'm going to be in Boston!"

Hmm, I need to start packing. And by packing I mean last minute shopping.

Yes last minute shopping!

Three days of finals and then I'm DONE with this year.

I would say 12 days left, because really I'm not going to do ANYTHING the day before except maybe try and memorize a map of campus/Boston area. Must avoid looking like tourists.

Excitement here too!

11 days left! Yeah, I did some shopping yesterday but I'm not going to start packing yet. Whenever I begin packing I get all excited and I can't wait. And I have 11 days to wait yet. :(
By the way, will this be anyone else's first-time-away-from-home-for-more-than-a-week? I'm sure there will be others like that at WTP, but I was just wondering about those of us on CC. And we must introduce the other WTPers to CC!

The longest I've been away from home was like a 10 week camp somewhere...so this will be a new experience. I've never really been homesick or whatever before, so I'm not worried.

the longest I've been away was 2 weeks but that was with people I knew. I dont think I'll get homesick, more like friend withdrawal but I'm sure I'll make plenty of friends at WTP. 3 more finals then I'm doneski. and I have yet to shop. or pack. that comes in the last 3 days before the 24th.

Yup, the longest I've ever been away on my own is a week too. But this year especially alot of my friends are going out for most of the summer, so I'm glad I'm going somewhere. Actually, two of them are going to be in Boston...so that could be fun.

Two more finals!

longest I've been away was two weeks, but it was at a summer camp with people I had never met before so that was the real deal.

I also stayed a week at UMD last summer for an "exploring engineering" camp. It was more a "let's-give-you-a-tour-of-maryland-and-make-you-want-to-come-here-camp" but that's okay. The dorms were small and the food was terrible, but most people I've talked to have said MIT is much better.

Two more exams for me as well, but they'll either make or break my grade so it's a bit stressfull. My last one's on Friday though, and after that I'm going shopping!

Good luck to both of you with your finals!
