WUSTL 2019 RD

wow, everyone got in with amazing stats. I think I’m going to work in a little corner pharmacy store with 5 dollars an hour one day and not even end up going anywhere for pre-med. I have a few extracurriculars I have been dedicated towards and outstanding summer experiences but my 3.84 gpa and 29 act will never let me be accepted. What do you guys think??

@wafflesquash what do you think?

@fdolakstart‌ Your GPA is really good! Honestly, admissions are such a hit or miss, and numbers aren’t everything. That being said, 29 is fairly low for a school of Wash U’s calibre, but if you play up everything else, they may be forgiving. Like I said earlier, if money is not a problem, go for it. If it is a problem… maybe you should reconsider, unless Wash U is your dream school.

@fdolakstart What other schools are you applying to? You should be strategic and find schools that are a good match for you as an applicant and as a student. Your ACT score isn’t everything, but a 29 is well below average for Wash U, and it’s good to be realistic. However, it isn’t realistic to picture your future self working a below minimum wage job; you’re going to college. It’s hard to evaluate your GPA because high schools vary in caliber and grade inflation, so if you have Naviance, you can compare yourself to applicants from your own high school. Now, go work on your apps for other colleges because you only have a few weeks left, and don’t worry because as long as you have a balanced list, you’ll get in somewhere.

That being said, good luck, and I hope to see you around campus next year.

@sungoose @wafflesquash I know, I mean paying is not a problem, I just want to be reasonable knowing my act score. but hey, I have a strong essay and some strong extracurriculars so I am just going to go for it!

@miamimama5 you mentioned you were accepted with a 3.5 gpa and 34 act score. What did you do to make yourself stand out?

Hi everyone! I’ll be applying WUSTL RD (after getting deferred from my dream school SCEA :’( ) and I would be thrilled to attend the school! Does anyone know how important visiting the campus is? I’m from Northern California, so it’s not as easy for me to fly to Missouri to tour the campus.

@Ambitious19‌ If you live far away they understand that you can’t necessarily visit. My son didn’t visit and was accepted RD. He didn’t interview either, but if you want, you can show interest by requesting an alumni interview in your local area. You may not get one, but it shows interest.

I know many have asked this over the years, but is WashU superscoring the ACT this year?

I was deferred ED so I am now part of the RD pool, still my absolute top choice, but I did apply to 9 other schools just in case.

Hi guys, I have 2 questions
on the WUSTL, it says all ESL students are required to take TOEFL and IELTS, is there any exception to this…? i.e a score of 700+ in reading and writing in SAT??
And also, is a paper transcript required??? it says Official Transcript has not being received…but i thought that was included in the materials my counsellor submitted on the Common App??

Help please  thank you very much~!

@mmchocolate‌ Yea, you’re okay if your SAT score in verbal is above a certain amount. Apparently, you can request a waiver by contacting the office and telling them about your scores. I think electronic transcripts are fine. I submitted mine that way, so I’m guessing that they just haven’t processed your transcript yet.

I have a rather random problem…well, it’s not really much of a problem- I scheduled my off-campus interview to be at the EXACT same time that one of my other schools release their decisions, and I don’t want to complicate stuff by rescheduling my interview for another time. Should I check my decision right before the interview or right after? I feel like either knowing/not knowing my result could affect me during my interview…

If it were me, I would check after. Even if you get good news from the other school you might be distracted thinking about it during your interview and not focus on the interview.

Thanks ! @caffeinemolecule‌

@fdolakstart like u, my ACT is even below their minimum. And I’m working on my essays to make up for my low scores. My ACT is my ony weakness is my app & everything else is stellar(in my opinion). There’s a .0000001% of me getting in but it’s worth a shot. :-S

Please chance me!

ACT: 33 Superscored
GPA 3.733 UW, 4.175 W (but 3.9 UW, 4.5 W excluding freshman year)
Demonstrated interest: Visited campus, alumni interview (went well), applied for scholarships
Essay: I thought it was excellent
Ethnicity: Asian
Legacy: Mother graduated from WashU Medical School

Has anyone else sent their SAT scores a long time ago and the applicant portal says they haven’t received them? I sent my scores early this month and the collegeboard website says they were sent on the 19th, but my page with received materials on Wash U’s website says that my scores have not been received. Thanks!

@ggillen‌ I have the same problem!!

How do we request interviews from local alumni?
