WUSTL 2019 RD

These next few months are going to go by so slow! I’m gonna be checking this page a lot… lol

Alumni interviews: https://alumni.wustl.edu/getinvolved/apap/Pages/WhatisAPAP.aspx

@ggillen‌ @wldb15 me too! i sent them on the 18th and my other school’s have them already!

…do i just hit up the alumni association e-mail to get an alumni interview?

I never requested an interview (since I’m not from the US), but I just got an email from the alumni association that an alumni would be contacting me for an interview within 3-4 weeks.

…Kinda scared. And I don’t even know if they do phone interviews for international students, so what was the point of sending that email in the first place when I can’t visit campus?

what I need to do to get alumni interview?

does having an alumni actually help?

I’ve been deciding on whether I should spend $75 plus sending ACT scores to Wash U or not, but if someone tells me straight up if I have a chance of being accepted or flat-out rejected then I will have peace of mind. Please let me know if I have a shot so that I can or won’t worry about sending my app in before the deadline! I’m applying for engineering btw, and I will chance anyone back.

@someone007 My daughter was also contacted by an alumni of Wash U. She was a local alum so they met at Starbucks. Don’t be nervous. It’s a great way to meet another Wash U student/alum and you can ask whatever questions you may have. It is very positive they reached out to you. Good luck! :slight_smile:

@wldb15 Yes, every bit helps! It is part of your whole application and it definitely shows interest too. They love demonstrated interest.

@lotusg You can sign up for an alumni interview which is a local interview or you can interview at Wash U if you prefer. If you want an alumni interview, I would send an email asking if you can have an alumni interview. Be sure to tell them where you are located too. Good luck! apap@wustl.eduapap@wustl.edu;

I have my alumni interview this Saturday at a local high school. I wish I could visit, but plane tickets are so expensive :frowning:

For all you guys who have an alumni interview… Did they contact you or did you contact them?

Thanks

I got an email. WUSTL decided to lump all the applicants in my area together and offered time slots all throughout Saturday for us to interview.

@frank274323‌ Wash U does both. You can contact them and they can contact you. If you are interested in an alumni interview, contact apap@wustl.edu.

does it matter how many scholarships you apply for?

Does applying to scholarships demonstrate interest?

@ninadasiy‌ Yes

What is the earliest time they would send out decisions? Is it possible that they would put out decisions in the middle of March?

My D found out around March 9th in 2014. :slight_smile:

Did ED not have to do interviews? I got in ED, and I was never contacted about one. Doesn’t really matter now (yay!) but still interesting.

@newjersey17 Wow, March 9th is very early compared to other selective schools.

Do you know if RD applicants will received notification of admission/decline at the same time or separately from notification of merit scholarship status?
