One piece of advice for those who were waitlisted…
If WashU is in fact your first choice and you would go if they let you in, make sure they know that. Here’a good piece from a New York Times blog with some more advice:

36 ACT, perfect GPA, biomed engineering. Wait listed. Same happened to a friend with 35 ACT and perfect GPA who was accepted to UChicago and received a likely letter from Yale. Rather interesting

Rejected. Had a feeling it was coming, my stats were way too low. 2020 SAT, 3.87 UW, 37/529, Mechanical Engineering. Looks like I’m going to UT. Wish I could get those 2+ Hours it took to go to my interview back…

@bhejna It is interesting admission. Same for my son, waitlisted with 36 ACT and perfect GPA.

Rejected with 4.57 W GPA, 2260 SAT, most rigorous curriculum, etc. Not sure what went wrong.
D was waitlisted, which is fine b/c no merit is expected. SAT 2300, UW 3.75
@bhejna SAT 2320, 8 AP 5s in a year, GPA 4.0 Waitlisted. Guess the ao chooses those not only with amazing achievements but also most likely to matriculate~
