Saw threads like these in other forums, so I thought I should make one for my #1 school! So how is everyone doing? Who else applied RD?

i did. hopefully things will go ok xD

I applied! I’m pretty excited, but my parents don’t want me to live in St. Louis
Oh well, I doubt I’m getting into any of my other schools, so I may end up there whether they like it or not!

Lolol. It seems that there is a common stigma among parents against st. Loius. My parents also think that it is not a good place to live (citing cleanliness and safety issues from when they last visited the city).

Tell your parents safety shouldn’t really be their concern. There are cops from different areas (Saint Louis City, University City, Clayton and WashU) patrolling around the campus all the time. I know STL isn’t safe, but simply because everyone is concerned about safety, it is actually not that bad around the campus. Sure, there will be some incidents happening every once a while, but which school doesn’t? Just don’t make some stupid mistakes (like walking alone outside the campus 3 in the morning) and you should be fine.

Yeah, I though campus was nice, and it seemed safe (especially with the walking escort service for late nights).
So where did y’all apply?

I applied to olin

WUSTL cares a lot about interest, right? How can I show interest RD if it’s too late to visit/interview :-/ ?

Hey!
I’m applying.

Tell your parents that WashU is located in Clayton.
The St. Louis isn’t safe reputation comes from bad areas in East St. Louis.
WashU is nowhere near East St. Louis. Show our parents a map. The bad area is on he other side of the river (as in that small river called the Mississippi).

We visited and had so much fun and the school was such a great fit that my parents like St. Louis as a city. The fact that it’s so far from home, no, my mom doesn’t like that haha

Eh, downtown St. Louis (within the city jurisdiction itself), is pretty bad.

The area around WashU is beautiful. It is surrounded by large old homes. As pointed out earlier, it’s not in St. Louis, but in Clayton and University City, Mo.

That being said, I have been to St. Louis three times since my child enrolled in WashU and I have come to really love the city. There are so many interesting neighborhoods and sights to visit. I have never felt unsafe in any of the neighborhoods I visited. I have walked a great deal and taken public transportation.

Just so much craziness you guys, I just want to know! Anyway did anyone apply for scholarships?

Hi! I applied RD. I am working on Danforth currently!

Yo guys. I applied!

I applied and I have my interview this saturday! Does anybody know what it will entail?

Oh, and when do I have to finish the entrance scholarship apps?

Argh, these scholarship applications are really frustrating and tedious. Might not end up applying in the end… no way I have enough time to get everything in.

^Feeling the exact same way.

I applied and best of luck everybody!
