I couldn’t do the scholarship apps. The teacher rec forms are incredibly infuriating sicne I’d basically have to ask my teachers for ANOTHER rec on top of the one they wrote for the CA. If WashU accepted the CA rec form in place of their own, I’d gladly give up sleep for the next two days to juggle three scholarship apps and two interviews. But since they aren’t, OH WELL.

I applied in late December and didn’t receive any contact for an alumni interview? Not sure if people near me got contacted… I know someone who applied WAY early got contacted. Any thoughts?

Contact them yourself.

My daughter had 3 interviews: WUSTL *with an alumni, Oberlin with admin officer and Wesleyan U with a student. In each case they asked one question that caught her off guard the first time. This question was basically, if you could change one thing about your high school, what would it be… She had not seen this in any of her prep guides for interviewing and was a bit surprised everyone asked it.

@crystalclearnow: I got that question too! I realized that the one thing I wanted to change about my school was to encourage the students in a year to relax more and get to know each other better. I mean, as it is right now, my class is so large that I’m surprised every time I see a new person in my class - “That person’s in our year?!” then I said I would try to host a class bonding event or some kind of freshman mixer to encourage them to get to know each other.

i applied. #LuvGoodCollegesWithNoEssays

I’m so super nervous…this scholarship stuff is INSANE!

I feel like I’m the only one still working on these schoalrships.

I’m applying ED and planning to get waitlisted; I applied last minute and demonstrated zero interest.

Applying ED is considerable interest in itself IMO

Anyone else apply to University Scholars?

I did! Except I kind of threw together my application at the last minute.

By the way, is the deadline for scholarships 1/16 (and not 1/15)? The website states: “The application deadline for Academic Scholarship & Fellowship Programs for the Class of 2017 (our fall 2013 freshman class) is January 15, 2013. All application materials must be received by our office no later than 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2013. The online application for Academic Scholarship & Fellowship Programs will be unavailable after 5:00 p.m. Central Time on Wednesday, January 16.”

I’m guessing that means that the deadline is actually tomorrow at 5 PM?

If it is I’m going to scream because I just threw together my application really quickly to meet the deadline (which I thought was 11:59 tonight!)!! Oh well, kinda glad to have those off my back. Someone should start a scholarship discussion thread soon.

Yep! Do you know if we can use the same essay/parts of the same essay for multiple scholarships (given that the essays are relevant)?

I used the same one for Evrin and Rodgedez.

I applied for the Ervin one… Oh god my essay was so bad. I took my commonapp essay, removed the intro, and wrote a complete bs intro sort of connecting the prompt to the rest of the essay. lulz.

They are different committees, so yes. I used my same discussion of experience with diversity and commitment to diversity but spoke more about my volunteerism for Rodriguez and education/leadership for Ervin (luckily most of my volunteer work has been education related so it was relatively easy).

This forum has been so DEAD. What have you guys been doing to pass the time?

Hi, Anyone knows the decision release date? last year was 03/09/2012.
Also anyone has applied University Scholars Program in Medicine? when they are going to tell you if you are qualified for a on campus interview in late March?
Thanks!

Hey guys, what is the best way to show interest in WUSTL? I’ve visited, had an interview + tour, etc. I’ve also requested more info. I didn’t know about the scholarship thing until a few days ago. :(

WUSTL and Rice are my top 2 choices. I can’t say I have a number one choice because I adore them both, and I’d be ecstatic to attend either one. I know WUSTL is huge on interest and I reallllllllly want to go there (more than Stanford or Brown for sure).
