Yale 2015 Hopefuls

^ I would like to know as well.

But, impetuous, thank you for your advice. I guess you are right that I have a few decent scores… and I really am lacking any motivation to study yet again… perhaps I should just settle. You definitely gave me something to consider.

[Standardized Testing | Application to Yale College | Freshmen | Office of Undergraduate Admissions](<a href=“Home | Yale College Undergraduate Admissions”>Home | Yale College Undergraduate Admissions)

If you take the ACT, the subject tests aren’t required, but take them anyway

Can someone explain what the residential style housing is like? How is it different from regular dorms? I haven’t visited Yale and everyone says they like that style of housing.

they have residential colleges which you get assigned to and spend all four years in. The colleges have their own activities, food, etc, etc.

I’m applying early too. Gave the SAT 1 once. 2390. But don’t know how many SAT 2’s to give. I’ll probably be one of the apparently very few people here who just give 2.

i have really strong EC and sports, so does it matter that i have no work ex?

I suspect that a sizable majority of the applicants take only two, especially now that Harvard has lowered its requirement.

No.

Are you an international applicant?

yes. And in my country we don’t usually do summer jobs and the like.

An enthusiastic college applicant might do an internship, but that’s the exception not the norm.

Wow… I visited Yale today and it was AMAZING. I love’d every bit of it and I definitely think its my first choice school. But will I (and the rest of us) get in… :/

^ Isn’t Yale amazing? I just adored the campus even if the location wasn’t the rich neighborhood like Princeton. However it has been a while since I’ve actually visited…

Everybody said Brown was really spread out but then I visited Yale and realized that Yale’s campus is even more divided and spread out. I still liked it but I was expecting more of a cohesive campus.

^ thats true… but I just love the variety of buildings that they have. It’s just amazing!

The rumored Sept. 1st release of the supplement is a bit annoying, especially for SCEA applicants.

It’s not rumored. It’s actually coming out on September 1st according to the admissions website and the admissions office.

Jersey13, I thought Harvard was your #1?

Where?

Also, good luck to all of you '15ers! I remember being in your place a year ago… Well, not quite, since our supplement was out by now (sorry, I had to). This coming year will test you in a lot of ways - you will have moments of pride and others that will shatter your confidence. As taxing as it is, I have no doubt you’ll all be satisfied with the outcome. From the moment I was deferred on December 15, I went through a cycle of neverending rejections from countless scholarships, until finally on April 1 I got into HYP. Everyone finds that light at the end of the tunnel, though it has many different manifestations.

Regardless, best of luck! :)

“Yale’s Supplement to the Common Application will be available on September 1. You will be able to access it from the Common Application website http://www.commonapp.org, where you can submit it electronically. In early September we will post updated information here on the application process as well.”

I don’t really have a first choice. Harvard only has RD anyways.

oh ok, well I am sure you can’t go wrong with either.:)

Wow, I’m posting pretty late, but, at least I’m not going to be criticized for preparing for Yale early. Haha. JK.
Senior Year is here.
