I won’t even dare to apply EA…

I won’t even dare to apply EA…

Now on the edge of hopelessness…

Likely SCEA applicant here. I am going to visit in the fall, so I’ll know then.

@MonochromeAddict: why not?? You have nothing to lose if Yale’s your first choice! Cheer up:) (but you’ll lose the chance to apply elsewhere though. And you’ll need to get the apps ready earlier).

I was thinking to apply for EA to Yale. But they told me that if I apply for EA I will be not able to apply for other university or college in RD…

Is that true???:/

^Um, most definitely not true.

@ helen EA is non-binding, so they have to let you apply to other schools. plus, you have to apply to other schools in case you don’t get in. Yale’s “single choice” EA means that you can’t apply to other schools EA or ED. What you’re really doing is showing extra interest, so Yale thinks that it should be the only school you apply early to.

But if you are accepted in EA/ED can you also try in RD to other colleges???

Thank you pkm2232 I just read your answer!!:D

I’m thinking of applying for Yale next year, possibly SCEA. I would love to attend but I don’t think I will stand a chance.

@xrCalico23: if I’m rejected EA, I cannot apply for RD. That’s what I heard…

^And that is perfectly true. However, helen's original question was:

which is not correct. If you are rejected from any college EA or ED, you definitely can apply again to “other university or college” in the regular decision round. (I mean, if you can’t, then you won’t ever be going to any college, and that would just be… horrible!)

Absolutely yes for Yale’s and any other EA program. (Yale does not do ED, for which the rules are different.) Accepted, deferred, or rejected in the SCEA round, you can apply to any other school’s RD program. Generally speaking you can even apply to other public U’s rolling admissions programs (for example, the Big 10 U’s) while you are waiting on a Yale SCEA decision. “Single-Choice” simply means you cannot apply to any early application program at another school. And, as was just mentioned, you can’t re-apply to Yale RD if rejected during the SCEA round.

I believe even the ED/EA Round 2 programs (with decisions in February) that some schools offer could be applied to after SCEA decisions are rendered, but I am not certain on this. Of course, if you were accepted in an ED-2 program at another school, you would have to retract from any admission or deferral you’ve received from Yale.

My point exactly in earlier analyses. If you are deferred you still have the same chance (so it seems) in RD as you did if you had skipped SCEA and in all likelihood you will end up in a high-quality school somewhere.

Here’s the official information from Yale’s admission website, a reiteration of what Descartesz said. Hopefully this clears everything up:):

I’ll probably be applying. I’m not sure whether I’ll go for EA as my final leaving certificate results won’t be out until early December. Then again, I’d like to apply EA in the small possibility that I’m accepted and don’t have to enrol at a university in my home country while I wait for decisions.

I think I’ll apply for their Theatre program. Apparently it’s pretty good.

Thank you for your answers:DThey were really helpful!!Thank you again:D

I decide to apply in EA/ED!!I know that the pool of applicants is very competative but I will do my best!!!
