so i am assuming no one heard anything today??? i got nothing (MA)

i got my packet from yale yesterday (in california).

accepted!!!!!!

(although i keep thinking it's like a practical joke or some horrible mistake and i'm going to get another letter telling me they screwed up... =/)

congrats! I'm sure you deserve it!

congratulations!

congrats aelfrice!

it's so weird that people are getting decisions all over the country, and there doesn't seem to be any logistical pattern in terms of time with respect to acceptances/rejections. i still haven't heard and it's killing me!

congrats :)

aelfrice: I worship thy great majesty!!!
Getting into yale as a transfer is a GREAT achievement and you should feel extremely proud and worthy- This is no luck! What it means is that you are an amazing and accomplished young man/woman!

Congratulations!

aelfrice, what were your stats and hooks?

My good friend applied to yale, he's at college with me right now. he's a junior transfer, high sats, 3.8 gpa, great recs, essays, but not one ec in college to speak of. not one award, not one internship, not one campus activity. his high school gpa was a 2.5 or so. it's blowing my mind.

because he just got in. jesus.

is his last name bush? gates? bernacci?

wait, how did he just get in, its sunday????????!!!!!!!!!!!!

he came home from college to the envelope on saturday. he's not famous or well connected. it was the only school he applied to.

well the yale app didnt ask for ECs, so that wouldnt have hurt your friend, woland

oh god, i am freaking out. i thought only rejections went out last week, but clearly not....

I think there's more to him- I don't think yale will ever just admit someone especially in the transfer process just because of their stats- plus people tend to downplay their efforts (in this case maybe hooks or extenuating circumstances) when they achieve something big to make it seem like it was effortless- I think it's only natural and I have fallen victim myself when I burst my butt off for a class, get an A and claim it was easy as hell when people ask me how I got an A.
Just a thot tho, but yes- I definitely think there's more to your friend-

i realized what i had to be... two incredible recs from professors that either taught or went to yale... he's good buddies with both, more than just codial relations. they also are each in one of the majors he's doubling in. and very very well reknowned in their fields.

woland, I don't think you're right.

bingo! now I know wot to do nxt year~hehehehe

for what its worth, he also said he made c lear in his why yale that he was only applying there... and he had applied there senior year in hs and freshman year as transfer.

Woland, you mind saying where you go to school?
