hello everyone! Yale is my reach school but it’s still killing me that we have to wait SO long!

I KNOW…
I just want to know if I’m in or not. The wait allows so much time for second-guessing and stuff and it’s killing me… -_-

yikes… ~4.5% RD acceptance rate! good luck all!

^how do you know? Is that just an estimate?

4.5 PERCENT?

Ain’t nobody got time for that. xD lolz

[Application numbers top record | Yale Daily News](Application numbers top record - Yale Daily News)

Simple math. They released the number of applications. From last year, we know how many offers will be made. We also know the number of SCEA admits. This tells us the number of RD spots. A proportion of this to the number of applications yields ~4.7%.

^ Heyyy, I’m in quoted in that article haha…Eric Aldieri

Just had my interview. HANDS DOWN best interview I’ve had. My interviewer was so chill and we had so many things in common. It was so weird. Our manner of thinking, interests, and hobbies were literally all the same. His talk made me regret not applying SCEA and now all I want is an acceptance. The interview was so informational. He said I’d make a great Yalie and an awesome fit! Ahhh so much false hope because getting in is so hard but still! Freakin love this school.

Just saw on my fb a friend got accepted to Yale already.

^Were they EA or what?

@SpaceDuck
Are you sure that your friend is being honest or just trolling?
Not even likely letters are sent out yet…

No, they’re not trolling. It’s one of the likely letters sent out by Yale to recuit science majors. I know someone who got in yesterday as well. Has anyone else got the decision?

Waw so lucky … Do you know your friend’s stats by any chance ?

She was in the RD round.

No, I do not know her stats, and would not post them on here without her permission.

All I know is that this girl is brilliant, or at least must be.

How did she find out? Email?

As per the practice the last few years, Yale likely letter recipients usually have gotten a telephone call first, followed by the actual letter in a few days.

Meh. This kind of serves to increase our anxiety
Isn’t it like ~2,000 total accepted RD, ~700 accepted SCEA, ~300 likely letters?
So…only about 1,000 spots for the rest of us. Cool.

Are likely letters only to recruit science majors, or can, for example, a musician get one too?

The guy I talked to on the phone said only about 100 people were invited to YES-W, so if there are, in fact, 300 likely letters (as CollegeDreamers stated), one can assume that there are 200 non-STEM likely letters.

Anyone who received a likely Call/Letter - what area are you from? Is anyone from the PA/MD region?

Also, congratulations!
