@EtiquetteOfWar oh my god I wrote my common app about self publishing… tho I never got onto any best selling lists. A signed copy of my stuff apparently is getting sold on Amazon for like, a couple hundred dollars (really, who’d want that?).

@LAMuniv I’m actually type 8, which means that I WILL TAKE OVER THE WORLD SOMEDAY cue evil laughter

I’m also an INTJ here… got voted for the yearbook as “most likely to take over the world.”

Whoa, you guys published BOOKS? Man, I just wrote one puny (okay not puny, it’s 26 pages) history paper…

@dancingwriter I know an ISFJ! Dunno if she applied to Yale though

I was a semifinalist in a regional poetry contest once and I never told anyone about it does that count

@LAMuniv That counts… did you tell Yale? Haha

@midnightdreary

That’s awesome, man. I’ve had about 4000 downloads of my book (had it converted to eBook format) since I published it about 6 months ago, but “signed copies” of it are certainly not floating around.
I’m primarily proud of its ratings, though (25 reviews at 4.0)
The couple hundred bucks I’ve made have paid for the publishing costs, but not much more. Of course, I have to give it time ;)

@jackson61

I’m not sure how unique it is or how much it helps us in the application process, but yes. My primary concern was that Yale would view it as something I hurriedly threw together to impress them, so I wrote my essay about the work I put into writing and eventually marketing it rather than a bunch of fancy statistics about how many times its been downloaded or reviewed.

I figured they could search it if they were skeptical, and then I wouldn’t come across pretentious by including the link/other info.

@midnightdreary I can’t remember… O.o meh… if they did a Google search of my name it would come up, so maybe if they were feeling stalkerish or something…

My problem is that I have so many ideas for novels, but I spend so much time analysing my ideas and mapping everything out that, when the time comes to start writing, I feel that I’ve exhausted the idea. I’m also a very visual person, so when I have ideas, I see them as films or animation, which is hard for me to translate into writing. I would give anything to be more of a writing person.

Edit: I am typing from my phone, so I apologise for my hideous spelling and grammatical errors.

@EtiquetteOfWar That’s definitely really cool. I made mine go out of print a couple years ago out of a need to move on in my life. Nowadays I still do a lot of creative writing but also giant loads of science.

@LAMuniv I totally understand. I’m almost thinking about doing something film-related with my life, because though I love words, I also love movies. Then again, I’m almost thinking about doing something anything-related with my life. #undecided

Daaang, y’all, I’m really impressed
Everyone here is just. So. AWESOME. It’s incredible… :D

I tried making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich the other day. Only I had no jelly.

@midnightdreary I am awed by the fact that you even attempted the daunting task of making a sandwich in the first place!!

…Seriously, though. I can’t even toast frozen waffles properly. I’m probably gonna live on Jell-O cups in college…

^ Preach it

@jackson61 @LAMuniv
I have just recently mastered the art of microwaving Instant Ramen Noodles and it tastes great! I think that I now have some hope of surviving college and its massive “hunger moments”! ;)

@jackson61 same, I can’t make food very well because I lack experience doing it. Though I’m dying to do this thing where you put Pillsbury cinnamon rolls into a waffle maker and make cinnamon roll waffles. mmmmhmmm
Apparently the food at Yale is fairly edible so hopefully I won’t be entirely dependent on my own cooking skills.

Edit: What am I thinking, I probably won’t even get into Yale, so I shouldn’t worry about the food quality there lol.

Sometimes, when I’m feeling really creative, I can make a pretty mean… piece of toast

@EtiquetteOfWar I actually feel like any accomplishments I could possibly boast about were only going to be completely blown out of the water by people with awesome life-changing accomplishments such as yourself, so I opted for the “idgaf” essay type and just wrote about something that has seriously been a big part of my life, physically and emotionally.

Also, Ramen tastes nasty when you know what Maggi noodles are… just saying
