Yale Class of 2018 RD Discussion Thread

Ah it’s coming out in like 24 hours!

So, of course we all know acceptance rates are crazy and we have to expect rejection from most (if not all) of the super selective schools we applied to (like Yale.)

But who secretly feels pretty confident about at least one super selective acceptance?

I’ll go first… I feel pretty confident that among Duke, Stanford, and most of the Ivys I’ll get in to at least one (probably Duke.)

Beautiful Story, we maintain hope!

@EtiquetteOfWar I admire your confidence. I can boast none of the same lol

@EtiquetteOfWar Absolutely no confidence, but l got into UChicago EA so I have a heck of a safety school going into tomorrow. :-)

Just rejected from Williams, so now I’m really not expecting anything from Harvard and Yale, haha

@LAMuniv don’t worry about that. I have a friend at Yale who has been helping me in the application process. He applied to Stanford but was rejected. and I was rejected to UChicago but got a likely from Cornell. I guess anything can happen :S

At this point, I would be honored to be waitlisted.

I got waitlisted by Northwestern but accepted by MIT so like, it’s all random. Hope for good news tomorrow…

Its impossible to use other colleges’ results to determine your chances for another super selective school. I would not mind getting wait-listed at some of the schools as long as I get into one of my super-selective colleges, which I am hoping for!

…I got waitlisted by UChicago/UCSD (<— honestly a little confused about the latter) and rejected by Northwestern/UCLA. In other words… NO HOOOOPE! I SURRENDER TO DESPAIR! dances off, holding a large white flag

Just got rejected from Barnard which I thought was a perfect fit for me. Not really much hope left, I guess it will be Scripps for me. Can’t really complain, yet I want to! haha I could just so see myself at Barnard, it was the only one of my top schools I really thought I had a shot at

Best of luck tommorow guys!

I’ve been accepted by 11 schools so far with no rejections. It’s really making me get my hopes up too much for tomorrow. HYP are such a crap shoot.

@SummerAus, that was me and UChicago. I feel ya, man…

Was me with Rice… I really really wanted an acceptance because Rice was an amazing fit for me. I loved their residential college system (Yale too ehhh) and their small school setting along with the STEM opportunities there as well as the Texas Medical Center next door would have been perfect for me and my med school aspirations. If I had gotten in to Rice, I would have no problem with being rejected by all of top 15 schools because I would have the best fall-back option possible (my current option Vanderbilt is pretty good but its not as good of a fit as Rice) . But I guess it wasn’t meant to be…hopefully the waitlist brings some news even though I doubt it considering the small size of the class.

I kind of sort of secretly feel like I might have a chance at Amherst…but I don’t really know why, because I didn’t even write a personalized essay for them…I just submitted a junior year research paper. I don’t feel confident at all about any of the Ivies, though my Yale interview did go super well. :)

@matrixsurgeon and @jackson61 at least you were waitlisted! That means they liked your application. I was straight out rejected and my scores were completely a match, so it must have been my essays or something…but I thought Barnard was my best supplement. Apart from the Why Barnard essay, I really messed that up, didn’t talk about the all women environment at all hardly-big mistake

also @matrixsurgeon congratulations on Vanderbilt! That’s an acceptance you should be really proud of

@SummerAus
Thanks!! I am pretty happy about it and I feel really grateful for that acceptance. I will probably end up there when/if all of the other college decisions come out bad. Their financial aid is one of the best in the country, only rivaled/beat by HYPS I think.
