Yale Class of 2027 Official Thread

Award date means nothing. I see it even for a school my D ended up not even applying to and for a school she was accepted as well.

Is anyone having trouble accessing reddit right now? Everytime I go on reddit it says ā€œerror loading user profileā€ and I canā€™t get onto the site or app at all. is the overall server down for others?

100% agree. Crushing dreams is definitely not Yaleā€™s goal.

I received a personal email from Princeton financial aid. It had a student number on it. The student number and the reference number on the application were the same. I dont think it means anything.

Do you think itā€™d be advisable/make my interview better if I were to send my interviewer a copy of all of my application essays beforehand? Or would we run out of things to talk abt/repeat a bunch of info during the convo?

Listen to Yale AO Podcast episode on interviews. They discourage providing interviewer additional materials, including resumes. They want this to be a natural conversation so that interviewer can help independently confirm that you are the person reflected in the application. I think proving essays will be seen as ā€œleading the witness.ā€

no, please dontā€¦its a really informal interview. just be yourself. they just want to get to know a little about you that you havent been able to articulate in your essays and application. Dont over think or over stress.

Did you have an interview?

We are supposed to evaluate you based on the conversation we have, not what otherwise is already being evaluated by the AO in your application. Think about your top academic and extracurricular interests. Why do you enjoy them? How have you contributed? What have you accomplished? How will Yale help you further those interests? A good tactic to ā€œtake a breakā€ is to ask the interviewer about his/her experience at Yale and how it furthered their growth personally and professionally (99% of interviewers interview because they had a positive experience and are trying to give back). That may lead to a good back and forth about how this applies to you.

hey everyone!

i was admitted to yale last year (did not end up committing) and am checking this forum for the first time in a long time out of curiousity hahah

would just like to offer more insight into the SID since theres been a lot of discussion on it -
i received a very late interview (early march, i think?), another interview a week after that, and received a request for more financial aid documents with a SID. i was admitted come ivy day. have also heard of the same happening to several of my peers, so keep your fingers crossed! best of luck everyone

My daughterā€™s interviewer for Yale specifically asked her to send her resume over after the interview was over, but my daughter did not send any materials prior to the interview.

So am guessing no interview means a no.

It only means that they need ā€œmore infoā€

Interview in last 2 weeks. Does it mean waitlisted? My D has interview tomorrow. At least we can assume itā€™s not rejected.
