Yale Eli Whitney Program 2022

Any international students from outside the US who have not been rejected so far?

Rejected as well.

I am very confused why do Eli Whitney applicants get status updates but traditional transfer students dont hear back regarding any decisions until much later?

Two different programs

But arent we considered amongst the same pool of 24 chosen students?

24 chosen students? where’s this # from?

just based on past years since I was an applicant last year.

I was able to do it without the student ID

Do you know out of the 24 students that were interviewed, how many were accepted?

Thought I heard that 60 were offered interviews last cycle?

Is it 24 or 60?

It changes every year. I believe 60 because there are only 4 days that they use to complete the interviews.

that being said i beleive 22 were accepted last year.

*believe

Hey everyone. Eli Whitney candidate here. I did not complete a stand out interview. I received an admissions interview request on April 18th and then an additional email inviting me to attend an info session after my interview is scheduled to take place. No one knows what the interview questions will be and the best thing you can do to prepare is to just be yourself and answer questions honestly. Do your research on the programs that you’re interested in - not research in trying to figure out what Yale’s admission strategy is. That’s like trying to figure out what happens after we die. It is just an unknown.

All of the financial aid information for Eli Whitney is due April 29th and is laid out very clearly on the website. If you need help, email them and ask. When I had a question about one of my transcripts, I sent an email via the application portal and they got back to me the next day.

Admissions decisions will be going out no later than May 20th. This is not secret information. It’s all on the website. Everything else is conjecture.

Good luck everyone.

Has anyone given interview yet? How was it like? What were the questions more focused on? How long was the interview?

I did my interview last week. The interview consisted of expanding upon aspects of my application, future plans, why Yale, and other questions regarding my specific application. I don’t think I performed at my best as I didn’t explicitly prepare which I should have done.

Be prepared to answer some tough questions, but don’t be stressed. The interview was a nice pace and seemed informal. For me, it lasted about 30 minutes with time to answer my questions at the end.

Good Luck to all who have an interview this week!

Hi @Hopingtogotocollege9 , was there any particular question that you wished you had answered better? Did they ask anything specific about your intended major? Was it more focused on future plans or your past non-traditional student journey?

The questions I wished I had answered better were about what a liberal arts curriculum is and how a successful student operates within that curriculum, i.e. how do you react to external inputs and what courses and experiences will you capitalize on while at Yale.

The interviewer asked more about my future plans rather than my past experiences, but they still asked about how my past had shaped what I wish to do in the future.

I don’t think I did horrible, but we all have those moments after an interview when we think to ourselves, “Oh, I really should’ve said that instead”.
