I am an international student who would really love to get into one of these colleges. My
Stats are as follows:
2050 sat score
4.0 gpa throught my school year, top of my
Class since first grade
Recieved lots of honours from my high
school
Can speak 3 languages fluently
Incredibly persistent
Have a blue belt in muay thai
Any hope for me?
SAT score is too low for an international. You’ll need a 2200+ to even be considered.
Also, do you need financial assistance? Not all of those schools are need-blind for international students, and usually they offer little financial aid.
What exactly would you recommend me to do to get enrolled to one of tgese colleges? I can raise my sat score to a 2100 but will it be atleast enough?
What country are you applying from? That matters a lot.
As it stands now you have about as much of a chance as anyone else. Apply away, but have some safeties in mind. These colleges turn away thousands of “perfect” applicants every year.
I hope you realize that getting into schools such as Harvard, Princeton or Yale is infinitely more involved than just having a 2100 SAT score (very low), speaking a few languages, and having a blue belt. These schools get applications from the very top applicants in the world who have stellar grades, test scores and world-class achievements. For many countries, the acceptance rates are 3% or less (just estimating from MIT’s 3.3% overall acceptance rate for internationals). The overwhelming likelihood is that you will be one of the 97% who will be rejected unless you stand out from the crowd in some exceptional way. I don’t mean to be a downer but you should be aware of the odds before you attempt to apply to five of the top universities in the U.S. (and maybe the world). Look for schools that are more appropriate for your scores and lack of EC’s. You will not receive much financial aid though.
try for a 2200+ at least. i think you’ll need to take TOEFL (depending on what country you’re from) as well as SAT subject tests. if you can, try to join more extra curriculars. right now all of those schools are mid to high reaches, but you could easily get into other less selective schools in the US as well.
