I was looking at the housing form and one of the questions (How do you think others would describe you?) had a maximum of 500 words. I am not sure whether they want an essay or just a casual description of our personality…
Do we need to write anywhere close to 500 words?
FWIW: I posted the below on the Harvard forum last week. Given my son’s wonderful experience at Yale, I think the same advice applies. You don’t have to write anywhere close to 500 words, but be honest and truthful in your responses. A casual description of your personality, likes and dislikes is fine.
@bradthegrad2019 yes, I am a transfer student as well… in the portal I had the housing form… and yes, I had accepted their offer of admission… Unfortunately, I just remembered I had forgotten a crucial detail, so I hope I can reach out to them and update my application…
@bradthegrad2019 they ask for everything. Whether you unusually clean/sloppy, how you want your roommate to be, your sleeping habits before/after midnight. Favorite subject in high school, assignment you have more difficulty with, what do I want admission officers to know… hobbies… this is all I can remember… but it felt as if I was creating a profile on a dating website ahaha
As far as I know, DS and his two roommates filled out their forms honestly. They were not a suite made in heaven. Tbh, in the overall scheme of things, so what?
