So I am thinking about applying to Yale. In fact, I will be applying to Yale this fall. However, I have ACT and SAT scores that most of you would consider to be a joke (trust me, I'm studying for them and retaking them this fall). On the plus side to my horrible test scores, I have a strong transcript (straight-A's including AP and college classes), strong extracuriculars... well basically everything else is strong. I guess my question is (and I'm not sure who this question is posed to) do you think I can still get in?

Maybe there are students who applied to Yale in a similar situation... where you accepted? Rejected?

I guess the reason why I don't just give up on applying to Yale is because I am not the type of person to just quit. Plus, a student from my school who scored a 24 on his ACT, and around an average of 600 on his SATs, was accepted to Harvard this year. I suppose that gives me a little hope because I have a very similar profile to him... but shoot, everyone in all these forums make it seem like you can't get in without a 2400!

I am just wondering what your experience is... let me know.

I got in with below 2200 so it is possible.

I wouldn't count getting into Yale with 600s on your SAT scores though, unless if you are a low-income minority with outstanding achievements in other areas such as grades and ECs. But still then it is better to have competitive scores.

Yeah, I can understand that. I'm not sure if I'm qualified as "low income"... I don't qualiify for pell grants or anything like that... but I definately don't drive a BMW... lol. From what I have been told, I'm "to rich to be poor, but to poor to be rich"... You know what I mean?

But I am a minority. I was also a part of a committee of four students who passed a $78 million dollar bond issue in my community to build a new high school & joint community college (first ever in Colorado, I'm not sure about the nation) and will pay for other district improvements (i.e. new classrooms in elementaries, air conditioning in buildings, other renovations.) Anyway, a bond has not been passed in my community for over fourty years, and this specific one failed three time prior to our "KIDS FIRST" approach. We raised $27K for the campaign...

...I can ramble on and on about this because I spent a lot of time devoted to it. I guess that's something pretty cool that I have done.

(I'm not asking anyone to chance me. lol. I just want to make that clear)

...I'm just saying that I really like Yale and what it has. Music is my passion and Yale has a great program. Unfortunately there is no business major, that's the only downside to Yale (in my view).

I'm not sure. I'm just a rising senior who is really excited and nervous about college. :)
