Yale transfer - Fall 2013

I didn't see any specific thread about transferring to Yale for fall 2013, Is there anyone who has applied for transfer to Yale for fall 2013?

MEEEE lol
feel nervous even now…
my final week would be hell (sigh)

Good luck guys! Decisions should be coming out in the next few weeks. I look forward to meeting those of you who are accepted!

Hoping to be one of the lucky 20!

Also, decision emails were sent out on 5/11 last year. A little over two weeks to go!

*one of the lucky 24. 24 are admitted each year.

^The number of transfers varies from one year to the next:

[Common Data Set (CDS) | Office of Institutional Research](Common Data Set | Office of Institutional Research)

24 will be admitted this year and 24 were admitted last year. 6 waitlisted.

Just looked at that document- I think the 26 includes waistlisted students who were admitted. Because 21 is the total number from last year and that includes students who were waistlisted initially.

any other transfer applicants contacted by admissions to conduct an interview? I take it to be a good thing?

angels, there isn’t a ‘set’ number of transfers admitted, the number of students that leave determines how many open spots there are for transfers.

Yep! Does anyone have an idea of when we’ll find out?

Good luck to all the other applicants out there.

Re: interviews- that’s new! They haven’t typically done those in the past. Congrats!

Pasthat- Soon! In my year we had until June 1 to reply to the offer, and I think that gave us over 3 weeks… So early May?

Entomom- I agree that the number does depend on those factors to an extent but they also set aside some spaces. I’m just stating what I’ve been told this year from individuals at Yale who would know, so I’m standing by what I said. When I was applying I referred to this forum quite a bit, especially for admissions stats, since the transfer admission process is so seemingly opaque.

Anyway good luck again everyone, if you’re admitted feel free to PM me with questions about Yale/transferring!

@pasthat - was told 2nd week of May by admissions - my guess is we’ll be getting emails on the 9th or 10th

Getting ridiculously nervous now. I’ll be working at a Yale lab over the summer which makes this decision even more worrying. I don’t like the prospect of researching at Yale, getting familiar with and attached to the campus, and then not being able to attend.

Good luck to all of you guys! I really hope, somehow, we all get good news.

Also, yolocholo, when did you hear about the interview? What did they say, if you don’t mind my asking? And congratulations!

Junior transfer applicant here. Good luck everybody!

@kgskid - the interview is definitely not a normal part of the process…I had my file pulled right after submission and was informed that I could be an Eli candidate. Due to differences in financial aid I elected to stay in the main pool. My unique path to college must have stood out enough to warrant the personal interview. Simply interviewing speaks to a more holistic approach Yale must take. Shall see how it plays out but am cautiously optimistic.

@yolocholo - Oh, that’s a lot less worrying! I was hoping it had something to do with that. I’m sure your application must be great, but cautious optimism is probably the best way to go about it.

Have you guys applied elsewhere? I only did Yale.

@kgskid - I also applied to a few other Ivies and Stanford.

@Yolocholo - Yale released acceptances on May 11 for the previous two years. Since this year May 11 is a Saturday, I guess we’ll probably hear back on May 13? Getting nervous now.

a day early this year would be nice! Fingers crossed for Friday! It’s going to be a looong week+

I applied to three other Ivies –– Penn, Harvard, and Dartmouth (I was accepted by Dartmouth, rejected by Harvard, and I will hear from Penn probably around the same time for Yale). Yale, however, is my top choice. I wish everyone the best of luck!

Applied to Harvard, Yale, Penn, and Amherst. Was accepted by Harvard, and now eagerly waiting for the rest! Best of luck to everyone!
