anyone looking into applying for transfer Fall 2015?
Look at the numbers. Yale accepts very few transfers. I believe it is below 20 each year, if that many. You are going to have to have a compelling reason for transferring and be stellar at your current school. Also, if you were previously not admitted, the chances of them now changing their minds are almost nil.
I am aware! thank you!!
@Awilo13 - I’m sorry if that came off wrong. I was just stating the fact that it is rare for Yale to accept transfers. This, of course, says nothing about your individual chances. Good luck.
@Tperry1982 Oh no, you are absolutely fine! yeah, I am totally aware of my chances–chances in general of being accepted. I will just submit my application hope for the best. Not expecting much! Thank you though. I see you’re c/o 2018, congrats! I hope you’re enjoying it there
No, I’m Class of 1982. My D is a freshman- Class of 2018. But yes, I enjoyed my time there back in the dark ages.
Ah, okay! I am sorry haha! That’s great I hope she’s enjoying it!!
She’s extremely happy. No surprise, Yale has the happiest freshman. This is not based only on a survey. Go back and look through the threads.
Wonderful!! Will do
This is a self-created wound, @TryingAgain This and your other post simply SCREAM of your misplacement of what Yale and other so-called “top” schools are. YOu didn’t go to school for days after Ivy Day your senior year? You rail about the evil admissions process? You daily call yourself a failure FOR NOT GETTING ACCEPTED INTO YALE?
Please see the counseling staff at your university. You need to see some better perspective – your obsession w/transferring into Y or H is a mill stone around your neck. You’ve gotten some mistaken idealization in your mind about what those schools are about – and what they give to those who attend them. Please step back from this illusion. Those of us affiliated with them and can say “been there, done that” realize that even if wonderful, they aren’t some magical key to happiness or fulfillment. We still have to put our pants on one leg at a time. We still have to take our kids to the ER or forget to put out the dog or go to marriage counseling or have to choose senior homes for our ailing parents. We’re not supermen, in the slightest. Please understand that right away. You’re in a golden situation and all you’re concerned with is the grass being greener over the fence – the Ivy fence.
You’ll have seriously wasted several years of your life – pent up in anger resentment and self-doubt – for something as ephemeral as what an admissions committee decided about you as a 17 or 18 year old. Really?
“a school that will define my life,” That’s crap. Yale doesn’t define my life. My life and my choices and those whom I love and befriend and whom I serve define my life. Yale was only four years and it went by swiftly. Please pull out of this tailspin.
@TryingAgain: Currently, more than 50% of Yale students and 60% of Harvard students are on financial aid. I cannot speak for anyone else on financial aid, but for our family, it was cheaper to send my son and daughter to Yale and Harvard than it was to send them to SUNY Binghamton, our flagship school here in New York State. IMHO: my kids could have received just as good an education at SUNY Binghamton as they did at HY, but it would have cost our family more money. The “dream” of attending an ivy for hundreds of students, mine included, is to graduate debt free with no loans. That’s not pompous; it’s practical – and more than half the class at HY are very much like my family. So, I think you’re way off base here.
Did I miss something here? Did the OP post something else under a different name? Who is @TryingAgain?
I gather the user posted something that warranted her/his entirety of posts to be deleted by a moderator. Gibby appears to have been replying to something aside from the screed that I tried to answer.
^wow
the post got deleted (so now my wow seems a tad odd)
Ok. Guess I am out of this thread!!
