Yale University Early Action for Fall 2023 Admission

They were oddly specific child support forms that I’ve never even heard of. Students in the past who had the same thing happen to them reported receiving an email from FA with an ID that they could use, so I am hoping to receive one. I just happened to check my portal today and see it but they haven’t officially notified me. All of my “procedural” stuff was turned in long ago and approved.

Yale asked me to submit these forms through their own upload portal bc they were super specific and not the basic CSS/IDOC ones.

Do you have a SID with your email? SIDs are only assigned to admitted students, so if you got one, it looks like it’s a very good sign!

yeah that’s what i was thinking. i haven’t received an email but the updates to my portal appeared at the very end of the FA office’s business day so i’m hoping to hear something tomorrow. i’ll report back if they give me any sort of ID number. weird that they would ask me to fill out forms that require a Yale ID if they aren’t going to send one to me, but we will see.

My son applied Ed to a different ivy a couple of years ago and the week before the decision we received a request for additional financial aid forms. He was accepted and when I spoke with the financial aid counselor she confirmed that they knew he’d been accepted when they were trying to finalize his award letter. But if they have a final review to shape the class it’s still possible that financial aid could get some names that are ultimately not admitted! And Yale might do things differently, of course.

Interesting, thanks for the information!!

Is the portal down? Mine says it’s “temporarily unavailable.”

Yeah I think so

Yes, mine is back up now thanks!

They were probably uploading results this morning.

I would think some of these forms depend on the type of household. Although we submitted FAFSA and usual stuff we were asked to upload Tax returns and W2s for each parent and student. NO idea why - especially given that they already have the CSS.

Good luck to you and everyone here!

That is a Yale requirement. There are 5 Ivies that require tax returns and W2s when you fill out the CSS profile. Yale is one of them. Your IDOC dashboard should indicate that.

Since my FA checklist is empty, submitting everything required through IDOC (W-2, 1040, etc.) should be enough right? Or are there special forms that can only be submitted through Yale’s portal?

There’s a button on the financial aid page to upload documents. Do you have that? Has that always been there?

Yes, that button has always been there. But when I spoke to Yale FA office, the recommendation is to submit all the required docs through IDOC. Yale portal asks for a SID, which is for matriculated students only.

Yes, that’s always been there but you only use it if prompted. Before yesterday, all of my docs were cleared and I uploaded those through FAFSA/IDOC/CSS. Then they added the two additional forms and they indicated that I should upload through Yale’s own FA portal.

If I haven’t gotten any prompting to upload financial aid materials is that a sign that I’m not likely to get in?

Has the official decision release date been announced?
