Yale University Early Action for Fall 2023 Admission

Thank you!

Maybe they already have what they need from you.

Yeah I didn’t apply for financial aid, but I thought that would mean the financial aid checklist would come up empty.

They emailed my daughter because she said she was going to apply for financial aid but hadn’t uploaded any documents yet. If you’re not asking for financial aid, then I don’t think you’d hear from them.

If you didn’t apply for FA why would you expect (or interpret anything) from not being asked to upload FA docs?

I got an email yesterday, the morning after my interview (Which went pretty well) asking for an additional recommendation - is this any kind of sign, good or bad?

Probably doesn’t hurt. Think positively. More recs more data and shows a different side of you.

Always a good sign if the AO is asking for more info. Means you are still being considered, but it also means that you are probably not in yet.

That’s what I was kind of thinking too. Thank you!

assumed the financial aid checklist would pop up but just be empty

If you don’t mind me asking, in your original application how many references did you have? And how many are teachers’ recommendation and they taught you in what subjects and in what year (e.g., freshman, sophomore, etc)? (Please exclude your college counsellor’s recommendation.) I ask because I know of candidates who submit references from teachers of not the “right” subjects, and they were asked to submit additional recommendations. Thanks.

Everyone is assigned an “applicant” ID #.

I’d be happy if we received an email. It means you’re still being considered. No email for us from AO or FA. Not that it means anything, but we have no idea if we’re even considered  So from that angle, I think it’s a good sign for you. Good luck!

Application reference ID is different from Yale ID or Student ID (SID). SID is for matriculated students only.

right, it didn’t ask for applicant ID it asked for Yale ID which is synonymous to SID i presume

Right, but you just leave it blank if you don’t have one. You can still upload the documents (we did this, without the SID, when the documents were requested).

Yes and that’s what I did. I was referring to students who reported being asked to provide weirdly specific FA info and upload it to the Yale portal very close to the deadline and later got in. Some even said that they received an email with an ID to use but that hasn’t happened to me

Just call the FA and ask for help and maybe they will tell you good news like you’ve been accepted.

I’m planning to do this myself
Yale FA is looking for a specific tax doc for no reason, so time to wait on a call that’s going to last an hour

I originally sent two references, one an academic teacher and one a club advisor. #1 taught me for freshman and soph. year and has been a club advisor for me as well. #2 Has just been my club advisor all 4 years. The AOs (Two separate ones emailed me i’m not sure why) said they were happy to review the first teacher and the club advisor one but they wanted to see one more academic teacher. Luckily my counselor thought this might happen for some schools so she had me get a third at the beginning of the year from my junior yr ap lang teacher, so I sent that one right away.
