Yale Waitlists 2017

I think they definitely take your school into context but not entirely sure.

I’ve already committed to UChicago but I’d still give anything to go to Yale. Depends on the financial aid though if I was lucky enough t get off the wait list… UChicago were fairly generous.

I am also an international! I think that a fairly large amount of people from the thread are accepted because some people will only post if take off the waitlist. I was told that they will still phonecall for internationals. I guess if they can’t reach us they’ll find another way.

Hi guys: I’m at sixth form down in Bristol. Got offered a place at Cornell, but had to turn down my place because they denied me full financial aid after accepting me. Single parent working class family on pretty much minimum wage yadayadayada so couldn’t pay for it. On the wait-list at Yale and Harvard too- but Yale is really the place I want to be. Only person at my school who applied to, but it’s a pretty average state school so hopefully that could help me out.
Accepted a place at Manchester University here in the UK, but Yale is the dream for me.
Jealous that you guys have both been able to take up spots in the US, good luck to everyone on here!

Where you from @mbfreshman?

@britboy I am from Ecuador and I accepted a place at Washington and Lee University. I am on the waitlist for Duke, Yale, and WashU. Of course, Yale is my dream too. Good luck to all of you!

@mbfreshman
Did you go to Johnson weekend a couple months ago??

@mchen013. Yes! I did. Did you?

@mbfreshman
Yeah!!! Hahha I think I remember you because there weren’t too many internationals there! I didn’t end up enrolling at W&L though; it just wasn’t for me.

I hope we both get off the waitlist!! Man, what a small world!

I am an international and am waitlisted at Yale.

I got an email on Friday in response to my additional materials saying that they will be finalising those they will take off the waitlist in the next few days.

Will they be calling or sending an email?

Wow it seems quite a few of the people on this thread are international! I live in the US but I’m British and lived there for a couple of years, I’m also enrolled at UChicago.

Sunriser, I think they’d probably do both if they couldn’t reach you properly. I really hope everyone on here gets off the waitlist!
If we’re not contacted within the next week do you think there’s absolutely no hope?

@patheticfallacy, I’ve heard that the waitlist has like different phases because of summer melt.

I know someone who was taken from the wait list last year. This person received a phone call on the weekend. So it can happen on a weekend.

@patheticfallacy
I hope the same.

I read on other threads that the waitlist drags on till about early June at least because everyone pulled off the waitlist may not go. Some may decide to stick to the other option they have already confirmed.

I called the admissions office today, and they said that all of the admissions officers are on a retreat right now. The lady told me that decisions would be released sometime this week.

Thanks @mchen013.
I guess the person who heard might have just been an exception then.

Yeah maybe because he lives in the same state. Maybe that was the first region they started with for the waitlist.

I take it no one has heard anything more?

I got an email back from my admissions officer when I asked her if there any updates. She said that there weren’t any and basically told me to give up all hope lol.

That doesn’t sound too good… What did they say?

mchen, I am also curious about exactly what they said.
