Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) 2019

While surfing, I’ve noticed that so many people rejected the offer due to financial problem, which is a truly a sad thing but it will be advantage for people in the waitlist. I wish to see that everyone getting admitted <3

@rohanthomas yeah, I feel that they expected a lot of people to turn down the offer, so thats why theres so many people waitlisted to make up for that

when will they start sending offers to the waitlisted applicants though?

Few International student can’t come when find out visa application is denied. That’s a possibility

@lemonlulu I think getting denied from issuing visa is the least probability from all the chances. The common chance is that, an accepted student who not able to find enough finance to afford the program. This chance could be breakdown into two, the fee structure for YYGS tuition is like, the accepted candidates must pay $3,000 on or before 11th May 2019 ( two weeks after admission decision). During this time If an offered applicant is unable to pay the fees even-though he accepted the offer, the admissions committee will pull up somebody from the waitlist. This same process will also happens during the second payment deadline. It Seems like no one get off from the waitlist because nobody said about it anywhere in any forums online. Let’s wish a success.

I recently mailed YYGS, indicating some questions, some of them are about total waitlisted candidates, decision on waitlist etc. and this was the response from them.

Hi Rohan,

Unfortunately, we cannot disclose how many students are on the waitlist at this time. The YYGS waitlist is not ranked. We expect movement on the waitlist, but we cannot predict how many spots will become available. At this point in time, we are only pulling students from the waitlist if an admitted student withdraws from the program.

If you are selected from the waitlist in the coming weeks or months, you will receive an email from YYGS with more details.

Best,

YYGS Team

@rohanthomas so it’s going to be a pretty slow process. Getting off the waitlist near June or July will be futile since we wouldn’t have any time to apply for visas and all that stuff. Tbh, I don’t have much hope for me of getting off that waitlist. I’ll apply again next year maybe or something.

@unstablebean, At this time you don’t need to do anything, if you are in Grade 10 or international equivalent, you already have one more chance else try hard by finding an alternative way. I was also waitlisted the to program. but it did not ended up there, there will be endless possibilities in your front to reach you ultimate goal.

@rohanthomas Yea, you’re right. The world is full of opportunities and possibilities. We just have to keep trying. :slight_smile:

@unstablebean that’s the spirit.

Hey guys! One of my friends did get off the waitlist last year around the same time. Keep your hopes high! And good luck for the entire process!

Also. In my experience, anyone who withdraws their spot from the program is due to less Financial Aid. Other than that, I don’t think there’s any other reason. And ofcoure if they were accepted to programs like RSI. Also, if you’ve any further questions about the program or anything like that don’t hesitate to DM me on my Instagram. It’s the same as my username here. Also, I was accepted to ASE 2019 and am in no way, officially related to YYGS.

My Son Parth 11th got in YYGS 2019 in PLE3 block . Is anyone got in from India and possibly from Bangalore /Delhi ? It will be great to have a companion for him to travel together to Yale ! Thanks - Jayant

Anyone get off the waitlist already?

Hey! Anyone interested in flying together from india (new Delhi) for block 2? (July7-20)? Also congratulations to all!

I receive an update today asking me if I want to decline the waitlist or remain on it

I just recieved an update email… I was taken off of the waitlist (rejected)

@grebsnig
you rejected the off waitlist offer? not your first choice?

@lemonlulu No, when i was waitlisted I chose four programs and was open to any of them. They posted an update stating,
"We are sincerely grateful for your continued interest in the program, but we regret to inform you that based on our yield rates and other calculations, you were not among those applicants selected to participate in the program this summer.

With this update you are effectively released from the Waitlist, and we encourage you to pursue other opportunities for this coming summer."

I don’t understand why you were removed? It’s a waitlist, right? And what do they mean by “yield rates and other calculations”? Sorry, I’m so confused and have so many questions.
